Re: Twin Peaks - Series & Fire Walk With Me
I still remember watching every episode of Twin Peaks and taping it on my girlfriend's dad's big-ass VCR, because it was a hi-fi model. Seeing the movie was one of the best times I've ever had in the theater. It was opening day, yet there were only about 20 or 30 people in the theater. I was mesmerized from frame one. My best memory is the big jock kid behind me gasping and saying "oh my god" every now and then at the weirdness he was beholding. I'm with Cahiers du Cinema in calling FWWM one of the 10 best films of the '90s. Getting this extra movie's worth of footage is Holy Grail stuff for me.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series & Fire Walk With Me
Here's CBS/Paramount's official press release (spoilered for size):
This is interesting:
"Capping off more than 30 deleted/alternate scenes is an epilogue providing a fascinating glimpse beyond the cliffhanger finale of the TV series.
Could we finally be getting a conclusion, however short?! Not sure if that refers to something brand-new or something that was part of the film before it got deleted.

Is CBS treating this series similar to what they did with Star Trek? Meaning it's going to be re-mastered , but maintaining it's 4:3 picture from when it aired?

MSRP = $135. My price = MSRP/2 = $67.50. We'll see that by Columbus Day.

I'll pick this up eventually but will wait for it to be on sale. I already have the Gold Box Edition on DVD and have the movie on DVD too which will tide me over a while longer.

This is just a guess, but it might be a Star Trek: Next Gen situation where even though the show was shot on film, any special effects were done in SD video and would have to be redone for HD.
There weren't a lot of special effects that I can recall, but I seem to remember some goofy stuff with owls.

I'm thinking they're doing a significant modernization of the footage.
Dale Cooper will have an iPhone instead of a tape recorder.
Any drug references will be changed to meth.
Widescreen LCD TVs will be superimposed into peoples' houses.
All cars will be replaced with Tesla Model S's.
The log lady's log will be a... log.
etc.
I can't wait!

To me it looks like a flip top box with the pages attached but the discs will go in at the tops instead of the sides. If that makes any sense.
