So it's in a tin that will get all dented up when Amazon ships it to you in a bubble mailer, and the discs are in those slide out pages insuring that at least couple of the them will be scratched when you get them.

Fuck yeah! Sign me up!

Blu-ray discs are more resilient to scratches than DVDs and the slots are of a slicker material so there shouldn't be any problems there.

I'm okay with the packaging. I have a few sets like that and they've been fine.

No crappy red/blue 3D glasses in the picture, so hopefully this means part 3 will be in REAL 3D. No sale if it isn't!

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

If I can grab it for well under $80, I'd be down. I already have both dvd box sets, so this isn't a really pressing matter.

I'm really not up on 3-D, so sorry for asking, but what is the difference?

"Real" 3D Blu-ray discs require having a 3D-capable player and a 3D TV. It's much closer to the polarized 3D you see in theaters and is very high quality.

The original F13 3D release used anaglyph 3D with the red/blue (or was it red/green?) glasses. Those don't require special equipment, but the 3D effect is much poorer, and colors get kind of mangled in the process.

Yes, they are, but I had some scratched discs in my Alien Anthology set. The scratches didn't interfere with playback, but it's annoying to have scratched blu-rays since blu-ray technology is far less forgiving of scratches than either DVD or CD.

I also remember a few people having problems with the Indiana Jones blu-ray set; I saw a couple of Youtube videos of the movies skipping during playback.

I just wish that manufacturers would figure out that it's just not a good idea to store optical discs in a package that requires the discs be slid across a surface to remove them. It's just asking for trouble.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

I wonder why they're using the standard F13th font on the discs and the generic "scary" font Paramount started using when they released Friday the 13th - A New Beginning on DVD.

Seems either way WB has their shit together and the set sounds pretty much perfect. I'd like an uncut Jason Goes to Hell but either way I give WB props for even putting that much effort in to a release for a property that's a majority Paramount's.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

Looking at the logos on the disc labels in the photograph, I do not see a Blu-ray 3D logo on part 3 - and it looks like the Killer Extras is a DVD disc.

Pretty cool. I'll get it for $70-80.

I have all the previous Paramount Deluxe edition movies on DVD and the 2009 movie on BD. I also have Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason on DVD as well. So, I'm in no pressing hurry to see them again.

But how are they with glue? The last dvd set that came out with the mask was the same kind of book, and the discs were scratched to hell and glued in the sleeves. Sent that piece of shit back to Amazon.

I only have the first film and the remake, as I held off on any of the others once a box set was released. I'm in for this one...

Tell that to my Planet of the Apes: 40 Year Evolution set. All 5 Blu-Rays were scratched to hell.

I said more resilent to scratches than DVDs, not guaranteed to never have scratches.

Straight from 2006!

Why should we pay new prices for scratched discs? I wouldn't buy a "new" car with scratches all of it - even if it worked.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

I'm not even a fan of the movies, but I've been following this thread out of morbid* curiosity and I have to say that is a damn impressive set. Gives me hope that studios will continue to package other types of franchises like this to continue to remain relevant in the physical media market.

*get it?

A lot of revisionist thinking going on in this thread. Jason Goes To Hell is a fine entry in the series, even if it does move away from a lot of what made the series so popular. Jason Takes Manhattan is the one that is utter dreck. Jason X looks like Kubrick's 2001 compared to Manhattan.

Jason Goes to Hell in my opinion is unwatchable. Piece of shit film that I'll likely only check out once when I get the box set. Jason Takes Manhattan is sort of stupid but I feel like it had some fun moments at least and while it's not my favorite it's watchable.

JGTH was the first film in the series I saw in theaters, so I have a minor soft spot for it. Still, I'll take a real Jason movie over one where he's barely in it any day of the week.

it also has the best, goriest death of the entire series, the naked chick getting bisected in the tent - EWWWWWWW !!!!

however it hasn't yet been confirmed that the cut in this box set is the unrated version.
