I'm torn, buy the EE's individually or wait until the eventual boxset (which would probably include addtional extras like the previous BD set). Or hell, by then maybe 4k will be out

I was in Walmart today and grabbed each of the three lenticular cards for preorder and I don't see anything that indicates three different covers on the digibook as posted a cole posts back.

Is the Wal-Mart digibook only available for the standard 2D combo pack?

That Wal-Mart exclusive looks nice! I love me some digibooks! Regardless, I will contain myself until the extended edition arrives. I may even wait until the inevitable LOTR/Hobbit megaset.

Looks like I'll have to step into a Wal-Mart for that digibook. *shudder*

Wonder if they'll put something on this version that won't show up on the EEs just to make completists buy both? I remember the original boxed sets, they sit proudly on my shelf, they're beautifully packed and are a high standard for extras DVD sets and such, or at least were at the time. Haters be damned, I loved the hell out of this movie, and I'll buy it if I ever get around to getting the damn BR player.

The DVDs of the LOTR movies were like that. The theatrical releases were all two disc sets that had somewhat "fluffier" extras than were eventually released on the EEs. That was kinda done intentionally, so you'd could think of how each movie was like a six disc release.

I will get this one, and wait to see reviews of the EE. This is a case where I feel an EE might be a bit much , unlike FOTR.

I loved all the LOTR films, but this time around I know to wait for the eventual complete edition of all the films with bells and whistles. I have more patience than cash!

Just wait until Xage buys 40 copies of this movie and won't watch any of them.

You could be dead before the eventual box set comes out. Bite the bullet.

The Target one mentions '2 hours of bonus content', that's just referring to the standard special features, not any exclusive ones, right?

The Target one is cool. I'm a sucker for the mini figures.

3D-effect lenticular covers on a set that doesn't appear to include the 3D version of the movie... odd choice.

I was going to wait but I will probably get Walmart's digibook edition now since that's probably my favorite gimmick style packaging and I had planned to get this eventually.

Are any of them supposed to have exclusive on-disc content? BB mentions an exclusive documentary, but that's only available via streaming, right?

So I guess the trick will be trying to predict which store will keep their exclusive consistent throughout all three movie releases.

I'm leaning toward the Walmart digibook but I'll be pissed of they don't off a digibook for the other two movies.

What difference does the store make if you buy the digi and next time BB sells a digi and then Target?
