The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Mar 19, 2013)

There's supposed to be an extended cut released in Q4, which I'm guessing will be loaded with features. Doesn't look like the theatrical version will have a bonus disc.
A Best Buy steelbook would be nice though.

Gandalf and Beorn on the cover, that'd be odd (and yes I noted "artwork TBA"), will that scene be in the extended cut or the beginning of the next film?

I'm guessing there's going to be a EE set released this year and probably a new boxset in a few years time. I'm going to wait for one of those.

It came out theatrically in December and the Blu streets at the end of March. I think 3 months isn't sooner than any other theatrical to home video release window.

Will probably get the 2-disc and then whore myself out for the EE later this year.

Will it be at the high frame rate?

Some say that perhaps they can do a 720p60Hz transfer for 3D but, as of now, the native 48fps version can't be released on BD.
I say for now because the rumor is that the new HDMI spec about to be released will include HFR 3D at 48Hz.

Probably just the single disc for me, then the extended later.
Still waiting for a better packaging of the LOTR extendeds, it's absolutely absurd the way they just stuffed in the extras DVDs instead of putting them onto a Blu-ray Disc.

Odd cover, considering that scene wasn't in the film.
I'm waiting for the extended cut. This stop-gap release would just be a waste to buy for me.

Never bothered watching this in theaters, so I'm glad there's a release coming out so quickly. I might just Redbox it though if there's plans for an extended edition.

That's not the final cover, just a temp graphic. But it's still odd that they would use that image when that scene wasn't in the movie. It's like using Lando or Yoda or Boba Fett for a cover image for the original Star Wars.

Can I at least see it at 30fps then?

Get the movie out now for those who don't care as much about the EE, cause the studio knows there's a heck of a lot more fans waiting for that one and that'll be where probably the majority of the money is.

If I can get this cheap, I'll probably pick it up.
