I'm currently deployed, so I had my wife go to our local BB and sure enough they had some. So mine will be waiting for me when I get home.

Re: The Avengers - 3D Blu Ray metal case.

I finally got one at my local BB. I visited the store a few time and they were sold out. Today, there were a bunch of the them on the shelf and I grab ONE.

At the register, they asked for my name and phone number and what copy of the movie I wanted to get (3d or 2d). Did anyone else do this??? I don't want the movie at BB. Just the SB.

I pre-ordered the movie from Target.

Getting the case is pre-ordering the movie at BB (the case is "free", the $$$ is for the pre-order). You don't have to pick it up and pay the rest to get it there, though.

....in fact, you can go back with your receipt and get a refund and keep the case. Never understood why they so clearly allow that in their fine print on the case.

I never understood why every time I get a steelbook preorder, when I go back to pick up the movie, every Best Buy person seems genuinely stumped on how to do it. They act like it's the first time they've encountered a preorder and don't know what to do.

I picked one up today since I am getting a copy from Amazon for free. (By the way, my local BB still had at least half a dozen or more of these.

I read the fine print and while I don't see that it "clearly" states that you can keep the case, it does say you can bring the receipt back for a refund after 10-8-12. I hope they don't ask for the case back. Have people had this happen before on deals like these?

Bullshit. It's a promo that they used get you into their store. They wouldn't make it so easy to return if they didn't consider the case disposable. They would make it non-refundable or make you return the case if you sought a refund if they considered the case "stolen" if not returned.

They clearly indicate on the card that the $7.50 you are paying is a Pre-Order deposit applied to the purchase price. And that the collectible case is FREE with Pre-Order. It also clearly states on there that the Pre-Order deposit is only good for a certain amount of time, and that after that date has passed, you can get a refund for your deposit.

You are right. I didn't look look at the receipt. It states the pre-sell cost for the dvd and then the cost of the case is 0.00.

Since the case is free and costs $0.00, then I can just take one and walk out of the store, right?

No, that is not in the terms for the pre-sale.

Re: The Avengers - 3D Blu Ray metal case.

If you go to the Taget online ad and hover over the image of the 3D version of Avengers.. the popup shows it as $19.99... this is the 3D version with the bonus disc..

Spoiler:

Yeah, but when you click to try to click to add, it pops up the blu options and says $24.99 for this version. Not sure how to make the $19.99 translate to the basket. I doubt we could take this in and show them the pop up and have them price match it since it seems to not be located at this price any other way.

Why do I think it's stealing if you get the refund, and still keep the case? Um. I guess I just think it's a little dishonest. People are built differently I suppose. If I got a refund, I would return the case. But YMMV.

BTW, do you still think the Target photo mentioning the $19.99 price for the 3D set is still fake?
