So, will the US release even have any extras? I find it hard to believe the DVD is only two weeks away and no one knows any details about it.

Ha, who knows at this point.

I saw this, this morning at Best Buy. I was half tempted, but decided not to, since the Bond set sapped me of my disposable funds until I get paid again. Has anyone even tried this Best Buy service Cinema Now?

I've always wondered how that Cinema Now works too. I see it as a downloadable App for my PS3 but know nothing of it.

Just to be sure, this isn't including the longer cut right? I can definitely wait for that.

^ No. AFAIK, the "longer cut" is nothing more than an Internet rumor at this point.

I have few doubts a longer cut will surface next year when steam for the sequel might be picking up.

I saw the same at Wal-Mart but they are offering it via Vudu and will send a copy of the BD to your doorstep when it is released. Little bit of nicer packaging though... it comes inside of a Blu-ray case (apparently with a cardboard cutout of a BD!). $24.96 there.

Neat idea, actually. I like the idea that you still get the full package in the mail... it's probably going to work out to be at least $2-$5 cheaper at BB though as you will pay the sale price (probably $22.99 or $19.99)

Re: Prometheus - 10/?/12

Bestbuy.com has yet another version of artwork for the 3D set. This looks like the 3rd different artwork I've seen. It says 4-disc set, so it must be 3D, 2D version, Extras disc, and DVD. Fox usually provides a code now for the DC.

Someone on blu-ray.com got a copy early, and it's the giant head:

They usually provide a press release at this point, but we haven't gotten that either. Wonder what's going on with this release.

It's like Fox just wants to quietly dump this one or something. Odd.

Someone from the UK managed to get a US copy, which turns out to be a Target exclusive.

Re: Prometheus - 10/?/12

It's now officially announced from Fox. Per HD Room:

The October 9, 2012 Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release date for Ridley Scott's Prometheus has been known for some time. As the release date has approached, we have been kept in the dark as to what exactly would fall onto each home video release. Now we know, and the answer heavily favors purchasing the Blu-ray 3D edition.

Let's start with what's the same between the four-disc Blu-ray 3D Collector's Edition and two-disc Blu-ray edition of Prometheus. Both editions will come in "premium packaging," Fox's words, not mine, and include the DVD and a digital copy. The theatrical cut of the film (there is no director's cut) will be presented in 1080p video and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

Where the specs start to differ are in the bonus features. The following extras will be available on both Blu-ray editions:

Commentary by Director/Producer Ridley Scott
Commentary by Writer Jon Spaihts and Writer/Executive Producer Damon Lindelof
The Peter Weyland Files
Deleted and Alternate Scenes that include an Alternate Opening / Ending
Prometheus - Weyland Corp Archive Second Screen App

Prometheus Collector's Edition gets an exclusive extra disc (aside from the Blu-ray 3D disc) that includes the following exclusive extras:

The Furious Gods: Making Prometheus
Enhancement Pods
Weyland Corp Archive
Pre-Vis
Screen Tests
Non 3D cover:

Looks like I'll be forced into the 3D edition in that case. Eh, whatever. Future-proofing, right?

Poop. I have the normal one ordered since it was in my Gold Box. I wonder if I should cancel for the 3D version.

^^ Do you have a 3D setup? If so, why would you not get that version? If not, then why bother?

Hopefully Target will do the same with this as they did for the Avengers...

Correct. By de Lauzarika's calculation, we're set to get over 11 hours of extras.

Well then I'm going to best buy unless Amazon price matches that. They usually do.

Re: Prometheus - 10/?/12

I have a feeling they want to dump this because there is a director's cut of a much better film to be made with all of the deleted scenes that have leaked.

So much stuff was cut that answers a lot of the problems with the film.
