I prefer the movie poster look or the one with the room holding the eggs with the large "Engineer Head". Neither of those two do anything for me.

I'm not a fan of the cover art either. The original poster art with the huge head is much better. The movie studios should stop doing photoshop jobs on the cover art and just use the theatrical posters.
Despite the fact that the Blu-ray cover art doesn't look that great, it isn't a determining factor about whether or not I'm going to buy the movie. I'll definitely be adding this to my collection once it's released. I'm guessing that the PQ and AQ are going to be absolutely fantastic on this one.

As it should be. Crappy PQ/AQ in new releases are flat out unacceptable. I don't think it's a common occurence, I'm struggling to think of a new title where I've read about a bad transfer job.

how about a flick that starts off in theaters w/ iffy PQ and AQ ala EX2? That'll be interesting to see if it actually changes when it hits BD. Regardless of what my opinion is on the entertainment I had of it...those were some issues I noticed. ooof.

I would make an awful reviewer because I noticed nothing of the sort. Maybe I was too distracted by how hard it was trying to be silly.

Of course, there are always exceptions when studios such as Echo Bridge release movies that aren't really that old and could look at least decent and don't put any effort into the transfer.
I don't think that Prometheus will have either of these issues. I'm confident that 20th Century Fox will do an excellent job with this movie and it'll look and sound fantastic.

I probably didn't express myself right, I mostly meant that there's no acceptable reason for contemporary movies that look great to begin with in theaters to look like crap on BD.

Those are the Hungarian covers. Perhaps the US covers won't resemble crappy fanart.

This was a horrible movie. I like most of the actors are in it but the movie was just bad. The only good thing was that we got to see the pilot being alive in the big chair. It was trying so hard to be like the other Alien movies, but it failed miserably.

Great review. Thanks for posting it in the review thread, versus the thread where people who plan on buying it are discussing its release without threadcrapping.

So I take it this would be a bad blind buy? I am a fan of all the Alien movies (I even enjoy 3 & Resurrection, so there) but it seems that this movie seems to alienate (no pun intended...unless you think it was funny) people the most.
Should a rental be mandatory on this movie. I meant to see it in the theater but never got around to it.

Ha, well if you loved Resurrection....personally I really enjoyed Prometheus. Sure it was lacking in several areas, but Ridley Scott's vision and what he was going after was what I really enjoyed. I'm a fan of all the Alien movies myself, and I think this movie serves as another good addition to the franchise.

Another fan of Resurrection, guess I'll be getting this to put next to my Alien Anthology.

^ In Canada, Futureshop gets the majority of the steelbook releases. I imagine they'll have one for this film... but there's no details yet...

I'm a fan of all of the other Alien movies (except the Alien vs. Predator crapfests). I wish I hadn't seen Prometheus. I wish I could unsee it. It's the Phantom Menace of this franchise.

I'm blind buying this based on the fact that I expect the PQ and 3D to be excellent. I can probably get past the plot holes but every so often I can enjoy a movie based on it's visual appeal (Avatar, for example).

It's kind of weird I was picking up my copy of Indiana Jones on Blu-ray today at Walmart and noticed they have place holders for this already advertising that you can watch the movie tonight on Vudu (I think) and own it later. They had Blu-ray cases out that had an unfinished version of the artwork. I know Fox announced a few weeks back that they're making their movies available for streaming and stuff before the Blu-ray release but it seems weird that Walmart would already devote shelf space to a product that isn't really out.
