i assume this set will also have a more features packed Avengers blu? i was surprised to see there wasn't much in terms of extensive behind the scenes docs or sequence breakdowns

Yeah. For a film w/ so much riding on it and for being so big in the scale of getting such a thing to exist..you would expect more.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

Looks like the briefcase set got released early somewhere, as pics are leaking out (got the following link from Reddit).

This is supposedly the entire breakdown of the bonus disc:
Spoiler:

Pre-Viz (21:57)
- Tony Escapes The Cave
- First Flight
- Gulmira Attack
- Dogfight
- Final Battle

The Incredible Hulk

Agent Coulson Intro (00:40)
Pre-Viz (22:32)
- Fight At The Bottling Plant
- Fight At The Bottling Plant II
- Cluver University Raid
- Hulk & Betty At The Grotto
- Abomination Alley
- Brawl In Harlem
- Hulk Pre-Viz Test

Animatics (14:18)
- Ivan's Apartment
- Battle At Monaco
- House Fight
- Rhodey Delivers The Mark II
Pre-Viz (07:35)
- Tony Lands At The Expo
- Final Battle
- Tony Rescues Pepper

Thor

Agent Coulson Intro (00:56)

- Thor & Loki's Final Battle

Captain America - The First Avengers

Agent Coulson Intro (00:56)
Animatics (10:20)
- Kruger Chase
- Orbital Bomber Chase
- Captain America vs The Red Skull

Marvel's The Avengers

Agent Coulson Intro (00:50)
And Then Shawarma After (01:59)
Deleted Scenes
- Barton & Loki Escape (00:24)
- Loki & The Other : Extended Scene (01:21)
- Natasha Hides From Hulk (00:27)
- Cap Saves Family (00:57)
- The Other Tells Loki To Lead (01:10)
- Thor Attacks The Tesseract (00:12)
- Cop & The Waitress: Story Arc (04:15)

Pre-Viz (12:15)

That is...uh, pretty underwhelming for a supplemental disc, especially since (I think) they said the extra time allowed Disney to add more features. I have no interest in the set (I only have The Avengers and that's enough for me), but if the extra material was a major selling point for you, may want to rethink your oder.

Yeah. I'm really thinking about it now. With taxes it's $151 with some change for me. I've already got Norton's Hulk. And got the free BD of the Avengers. So all I need is IM, Cap, and Thor.

Too damn much for a weak extras disc. I'm glad I passed.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

I originally bought it for $133 from Amazon. With the free Avengers disc they sent, that saved me 25 bucks by giving it as a gift to my nephew at x-mas. So it is running me about $18 bucks a movie not including some money I will get for selling my copy of The Incredible Hulk (green case so hopefully I will get a little something).

The packaging looks really cool, so I think I will let it stand.

... but you gain hours of pre-visualizations and animatics alongside some "new" deleted scenes and a case?

Yeah, I'm fine with all the standard Marvel Blu-rays I have now. Hell, they should've thrown in the hour and a half feature on Phase One that was included in the Target exclusive edition of The Avengers.

Looks like a neat set, but since I already own all of the movies, I'll have to pass. Can't justify spending $150 for a disc of half-assed bonus features and some folders full of ephemera.

Maybe if it's still available for sale, I might have my gf get it for me for Christmas if the price dips enough.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

The extras disc does sound a little underwhelming but I sold all my marvel flicks (but did buy Avengers) back in the summer in anticipation for this, so I'll still be getting it.

Speaking of which, is that Target exclusive still available at Target stores, or was it a first-pressing sort of deal?

It looked better on photos than in that video, it's a bit more flimsier looking than I would've hoped.

First-pressing sort of deal and most Target stores had next-to-nothing in terms of the exclusive. I went in at opening to buy it. When I went back to that same Target three days later, they were all gone and the standard four-disc set was now in its place.

Yeah, I think it was just a release week thing.

But individual stores might still have copies if they didn't sell out of them. I know that I was able to pick up a couple of the the Target exclusive "Heroes" season sets when they dropped to $9.99. But it's a total YMMV kind of thing.

I like the artwork on the disc sleeves but everything about that new set looks incredibly cheap.
