I could be wrong, but I don't think they do that sort of thing. You'd have to go with someone with membership and make sure to bring cash.

My complaint with this version though is that whenever anyone's voice raises too high in pitch, or they yell, the sound distorts some, like someone talking into a fan. I suspect that this was an unintentional byproduct of editing the dub and they don't care enough to fix it.

I'm gonna have to dig out the original 1 disc dvd version and see if it did that on the original unedited dub too. I don't think it did, but maybe I just didn't notice back then.

Costco will also take debit cards or American Express (but no other credit cards). You need to have a membership card in order to check out.

True, but I've run into a couple of gun-ho cashiers that make a big deal that someone who is not a member is buying something, especially when a debit card is involved. It's easier to give the card carrying member cash in my experience.

This is true. You can only use debit or credit if the membership card is yours. Otherwise, you need cash.

Costco wouldn't even let me in without a membership card. I simply went somewhere else. Maybe I'll get one one of these days, I just wasn't in the mood at the time.

It wasn't because you weren't a member, it's because you kept bringing up George Lucas refusing to release the OT.

Yes, you are allowed to buy alcohol and prescription drugs without a membership. However he still would not have been able to purchase any movies.
You can have a member purchase a Costco Cash Card for you and then you can use that on anything. Or you can buy the Cash Card from eBay or Craigslist.
Either way it's a PITA for those without a membership and probably not worth the hassle.

If I didn't already have so many of the Disney BD releases, I may have gone with with that option (on BD) as well.

Alright, Ghibli newb question here : I own Ponyo already. Wanted to pick up a few more at Costco. They had them all (didn't have the Blus out, only the DVDs. I had to tell them to go find the Blu Rays). Anyways, I picked up Totoro, Naussicaa, and Mononoke. Did I buy the right three to start out with?

You can't go wrong with those 3. Totoro is my favourite Ghibli but I'm also fond of Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery service.

There are no reviews yet, since it's more than a month away from release date.
For the Japanese and UK Hayao Miyazaki, you can see the specs here at the DVDCompare listings, but all the special features were dropped from the existing Blu-rays.
But according to the Madman website, it will have All special features from all special edition versions of the featured films. plus a bonus disc as well. Sounds like Madman is making the most definitive version.
As for the quality of the Madman discs, they are pretty much ports of the UK Studio Canal discs.

It makes me sad thinking that Marnie could be the last feature film from Studio Ghibli.

Are they having financial problems? I know that Miyazaki has hung up his hat a couple of times.
