Just a few more weeks for the UK set which I'm waiting on. Can't stand the US packaging.

According to blu-ray.com's price tracking, the Star Wars Complete Saga's lowest price on Amazon was $70.49 and that was a very limited time. That set has now been out 1 full year. It's pretty much stayed at $80 or higher the entire release time.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

When the first dvd set came out, I jumped on it the first day. I dont know, its not the price, but I really dont care about it like I use to. I might get it way down the road. I loved the series as a kid, but I have only watched the set twice since it came out (one being when KOTCS was coming out)

Good point - totally forgot about the separate trilogy sets.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

My Walmart was just now putting out new releases when I stopped in earlier. They did find the box with Indy in it. $64.96. Looked like they had around 15 copies.

But the individual Trilogy sets were $29.99 at Amazon -

Paramount is not really giving consumers a choice, but regardless, 4 films, 1 of which has been out for years, is still pretty expensive compared to owning the original Star Wars Trilogy for $30.

Was at Best Buy this afternoon and almost grabbed it but with list at $69 and sell at $65 I'm betting it will be lower before Christmas

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

Okay, nitpicky question:

Did anyone else find the lower left corner of the inside packaging had a minor scrape from where it goes into the outside shell? I hate getting a nice case with no dents and then finding the inside packaging having marks like that. I'm just wondering if I was lucky, or if this is how they all are from the size of the book and the size of the outside case.

Amazon delivered my copy this morning. These transfers are gorgeous. Well, at least the ones for Raiders and Temple are. Haven't gotten to Last Crusade yet. The sound is even better, really exceptional.

I definitely agree. And the new doc on Raiders is damn good.

Ozzfan, I don't have that problem with my case. In fact, there seems to be plenty of space within the case that there isn't scraping onto the book.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

I'm reporting from my car in the Frys Burbank parking lot. Frys is a no-go. Couldn't find a single copy or even a price tag. An older guy who looked like a manager and was holding a stock list as he shelved blurays told me they don't have it and that he's pretty sure this set hasn't been released yet. Says it'll be released in a couple weeks. Huh?

I didn't bother to tell him he is the death of bricks an mortar.

No dents in my book either. Discs are pretty hard to get out, though. Seems like a crappy design to me.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

The scenes from Raiders and Temple of Doom I watched today look and sound phenomenal.

I don't think these versions have been altered from their original format. Didn't watch the Well of the Souls scene to look for the reflection between Indy and the cobra but case in point, when the jeep goes off the cliff in Raiders it's the original matte painting. I may end up unpopular yet I have to say: it looks pretty fake to me in HD - stands out in a jarring way that takes me out of the scene. Kinda prefer the new version in the DVD. There, I said it. Maybe it will grow on me, I don't know. I'm conflicted 'cause as a kid that was my favorite shot and I've seen Raiders literally over a hundred times in the last thirty years.

Supermallet, since we have the same Onkyo TX-SR608 receiver I need some advice for which of the seemingly endless audio options to choose. We often keep changing it because we can't find an option that doesn't consistently keep dialogue from getting drowned out by music, action, etc.

I think Amazon has the list price as $99, no?

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

I have it set to direct pass through, so I get the sound mix exactly as it's set on the Blu-ray.

Meanwhile, Crusade looks exceptional! I'm seeing so many small details I've never noticed before.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

Has anyone pre-ordered the UK sets from Amazon UK? I was wondering how much the Limited Edition and regular editions cost after the VAT taxes are taken off and shipping to the US?

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

Very impressed with this set, as I watched Raiders and Temple last night. Audio is just thunderous. But, I do agree the mats are very apparent in the transfer. Not a big deal, just more noticeable.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

From what I've seen so far of Raiders I agree the audio is amazing. But I think the picture quality is a little disconcerting at times. The colors occasionally look different from what I remember on prior releases. And the opening scene in South America seems too bright - to the point where the image appears to suffer. I'm curious as to what others think.

But I am seeing little details I never noticed before. Looks like that gold idol has real eyes! (Creepy!)

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

This is from Randy Miller's review for DVDTalk:

The film's color palette seems notably warmer than the previous DVD release, but this looks to be a reflection of the original theatrical appearance and, in my eyes, only enhances the film's rugged locales.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

I thought the jungle sequence at the beginning looked damn good. It did look brighter, but nothing to where the image suffered. In fact, I now see details I never noticed before, like the statue he looks at, the walls inside the temple, etc. Like most have said, the mattes look really fake now that it's been cleaned up and in HD, so that was a bit jarring to see.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

And while they do use the original mattes, I did not see a reflection in the Well of Souls.

Re: Indiana Jones Collection -- Fall 2012

I didn't see the cobra reflection when Indy first falls down into the Well (where it was most noticeable). But it is there in some later segments - when Marion is fighting the snakes while Indy is pushing the statue into the wall.

I never noticed those other reflections before. And now I will. Thanks a lot!
