Yeah, and if they sold it for $.01 a copy, it'd sell literally dozens more copies!!!!

What, exactly, is in it for the studio to do this?

I asked on their facebook page and they replied At Long Last Love will probably be $24.99.

I'm not sure what your point is. AGAIG was huge box office hit and even won a couple oscars. I believe it would have sold many times more copies if released in retail stores at catalog pricing. Fright Night and Christine, good TT choices, but this is just preventing people from owning the movie by releasing it this way.

Well, one would think that Sony would want to put out as much material as possible to promote the Blu-Ray format, rather than license it out to other companies. (Heard Mill Creek somehow put out Hudson Hawk in MONO- totally unexcusable!)

I'll bet all three fans of "Hudson Hawk" were extremely disappointed.

I gotta admit when Hudson Hawk would run on cable back in the 90's, I wouldn't turn it off.

IIRC, the issue has been fixed. If you receive a faulty disc, contact Mill Creek and they'll mail you off a replacement.

There were a slew of issues with a lot of the first two wave of Mill Creek and Sony Blu-ray releases. The Hostel and Hollow Man double features both had issues with their respective 5.1 tracks.

So TT will be releasing Philadelphia in a couple of months. It'll have special features and such. I'm too lazy to link right now, though.

Release date is May 14. Anyone know the pre-order date? Should be coming up here soon....

Doesn't really matter. This isn't one that's going to sell out in hours.

Looks like Oliver! will be coming later this year:

I know it's not exactly universally loved, but it's been a favorite of mine since childhood. Certainly one of the relatively few cases where I'll be willing to shell out $35 for a film.

I must admit even though I find some of the musical numbers over the top, I love the songs and Oliver Reed is great (as usual)

Your statement was missing some qualifiers. And if As Good As It Gets was one third the price, they easily would have sold more than three time the number they have, even without being in physical stores. I think they (and other niche companies) will recognize this and adapt accordingly. If you've got a title that 5,000 people really, really want, it makes sense to limit it to 3,000 copies and charge a premium. If you've got a title ten times that number people kind of want, make more and charge less. AGAIG is running $50 on Amazon. No casual movie fan is going to pony that up when the norm has dropped to $10 - $20. Hell, I enjoy the movie quite a bit, have a huge collection and have dropped $50 on a handful of hard to get titles, but wouldn't even consider dropping that much on AGAIG.

100% agree. I'm pretty frugal and I would not ever drop that kind of money on AGAIG, or any other TT title so far. The only title so far might have been Mysterious Island if I could've gotten it at a good price (or even realized it was begin released).

However if Twilight Time released the original Andromeda Strain or Colussus the Forbin Project, I would probably bite. Two of my all-time favorite sci-fis. Otherwise I'll live with DVD resolution.

I wish they would get the rights to release Somewhere In Time. I would pay 50 bucks or a HD release of it.

I asked awhile ago about ANDROMEDA STRAIN... Someone on this forum said it was in the pipeline for a 2012 release, which never happened. As it's a Universal title, I do not think TT would be licensed to release it, I thought they only had titles from the Sony catalog. I would pay the $35 for it...

Yeah, THE FORBIN PROJECT would be a holy grail on Blu! We don't even have a version of it in 'scope in the US. Overseas, there is a good release on DVD, but I didn't get it because I hate the PAL speedup. I paid $49.95 for the laserdisc of FORBIN PROJECT (which *is* in its correct 2.35:1 OAR) back in the day!

I'm a bit surprised "Philadelphia" hasn't been shipped yet, don't they usually mail out pre-orders a few days early?

FYI, got an e-mail from TT and basically was told they're still waiting for their shipment to arrive.

Good to know. Not like I need to see it this second, but for the price it should be on time.

Same here I forgot all about this last week and got my order in today. Thankfully it was not sold out yet. I am kinda stunned that it is not. I am sure it will eventually though.

The only thing that has sold out real fast so far are the horror films.
Hard Times is gonna be on TCM in the next week. I have my recorder set. I get the HD version so I'll take a look first.
Even The Fury is stil available. I thought that would sell out by now when it came out at the same time as Christine. Probably if their prices weren't like they are it would happen more often.
