Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Got ‘em all! I’ve likewise been using these two since forever. I do find that they generally balance each other out. When I do an order at one place, I try to duplicate the cart at the other, to see if it’s better to go there. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Buyoyo has a larger overall selection, so they get my biggest orders, which usually include a ton of low-budget HK stuff that I scrounge up after several days of scouring the site.

One thing that Buyoyo does kinda bugs me, especially on supersized orders: I place my order, and then a couple of weeks later I get a notice about replacing ‘out of stock’ items that are still listed on the site as ‘in stock’ or ‘to order’. The email is a request to find replacements for the ‘out of stock’ items, but after compiling an order for the better part of a month, I don’t feel like spending more days deep diving the site for obscure VCDs and DVDs, so I have to tell them to process what’s available and refund the OOS stuff; otherwise the order just sits until they hear back. I usually put special instructions to do this in my orders up front, but the process seems baked in. No biggie, though, as the folks I’ve dealt with there have been easy to deal with. The only issue recently was a September order of 76 discs (I have issues lol) that would’ve been here well before Canada’s recent postal strike if it wasn’t for this process of theirs. Should be getting it soon, but the inconvenience wasn’t cool.

I’ve always liked DDDhouse’s ‘weekly cheap sale’ sections. There’s often some solid – and more recent – HK titles mixed in there, and the odd 3D title. They also have a ‘Wholesale Price’ section that’s good for a decent bargains. I picked it clean over the last couple of years, but I always check from time to time because sometimes they’ll stick in a bunch of temporary price drops that can justify an order.

Regarding the STEP UP and STREETDANCE movies, I’ve got all the 3D ones and while the “let’s put on a show to save our clubhouse / nightclub / academy” in all of them was horribly lazy and outdated hook, they all make fantastic use of the 3D format, including pop-outs because they weren’t conversions.

Wow, D&W really has great depth. The opening scene alone seemed like it was made for 3D. It was quite good.

I recall mentioning this in the Movies thread for this one when I saw it at the theater. They clearly designed a lot of stuff throughout with 3D in mind.

I think this one was mentioned earlier in this thread, but Kino’s 3D listing for THE GLASS WEB (1953) has been up for a little while. Looking forward to this in a future sale, of course:

Gorgeously remastered for the very first time in 3-D by 3-D Film Archive! Film noir legend Edward G. Robinson (Scarlet Street, Night Has a Thousand Eyes) spins The Glass Web—the ultimate in shocking 3-D suspense! Television writer Don (John Forsythe, In Cold Blood) has been having an affair with ice-cold actress Paula (Kathleen Hughes, Three Bad Sisters) while working on the weekly authentic TV show Crime of the Week. When Paula demands a ransom to keep the affair from Don’s wife (Marcia Henderson, All I Desire), he agrees. However, as he arrives to deliver the money, he finds Paula dead. Soon, the show’s researcher, Henry (Robinson), proposes that their next episode should reenact Paula’s murder…and that he has incriminating evidence against Don. This twist-filled noir classic was filmed in three glorious dimensions by legendary director Jack Arnold (Creature from the Black Lagoon, This Island Earth, The Incredible Shrinking Man, The Tattered Dress).

Product Extras :
  • 3-D Restoration by 3-D Film Archive
  • NEW Audio Commentary by Professor and Film Scholar Jason A. Ney, with 3-D Experts Mike Ballew and Greg Kintz
  • Includes the 2D, Blu-ray 3-D AND Anaglyphic (Red/Cyan) 3-D Versions with One Pair of Anaglyphic 3-D Glasses
  • Theatrical Trailer (2D)
  • TV Spots (2D)
  • Optional English Subtitles

I guess no more 3D’s from Japan with the whole post office thing. Glad I got Deadpool and Wolverine when I did.

Turbine has 3 more movies.
https://turbine-shop.de/search?search=tcs4

Release 2/27/25

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 3D
Scream VI 3D
Friday the 13th: Part 3 3D

I saw TMNT:MM in the theater and I thought it was great 3D. ScreamVI didn't look all that spectacular, just average.

Ordered all 3 of them, don’t really need another copy of Friday the 13th part 3 but it’s one of my favorites. They said they did some extra work on this one.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Just noticed an 88 Films Instagram post from a few days ago regarding the 3D version of Jackie Chan’s MAGNIFICENT BODYGUARDS. I recall some speculation (possibly at the ‘other’ forum, or maybe here?) about who they were using for this, and it not being 3D Film Archive. Perhaps they should have?

Before we announce our May slate (Tune in next Wednesday!) we just wanted to give you a quick update on our first 3D release, Magnificent Bodyguards.

This was scheduled to be out in 🇺🇸 and 🇬🇧 by now but we were not 100% happy with the first attempt and just as it was all about to be sent off to manufacture we decided (in total 88 fashion) to start again. Being a 3D film this is taking longer than a normal 2D film as we basically have to restore the film twice! Left and right eye.

We will have an exciting and proper update very soon with the plans for the release and release date. But in the meantime, rest assured it IS still coming, and it has nothing to do with any rumours you might have heard circulating online. So please keep them pre orders

So, since Vudu stopped working on my Blu player, is there any other way to watch a 3D movie that I was only able to watch on player? I know it doesn’t work with Firestick. Anything I can do? Thanks.

It works in side by side format on Apple TV. If you have anything that uses Airplay, their 3D content also works through that. I also found on their Android app, if you start the movie on a 3D-capable device then it will show up in “Continue Watching” and be playable from there, also in side by side.

I don’t have any AirPlay compatible devices. But, can put my tv in side by side mode.

I just watched the German 3-D version of part 3 and I gotta say it was very well done. Good depth, popouts. Much more noticeable than in the US set. Very impressed.

Turbine put out SUPER MARIO 3D this past week. Apparently they had a deal if you bought it with two of their other 3D titles (but only lesser sellers like BAD GUYS, DOLITTLE, SING 2 or NINJA TURTLES) but that’s over now.

https://turbine-shop.de/en/The-Super...ray-3D/6961361

Looks like their combo set of MINIONS, JURASSIC WORLD, and BAD GUYS is sold out, though the singles are still available. I’m guessing that means the other bundles will eventually go out of stock too.

Looking around their site, they have a "LIMITED" banner for actual limited edition titles. That bundle doesn't include that banner.

I think it's more likely that particular combo is sold out because JURASSIC WORLD is also sold out.

I believe this happened before, either with JURASSIC WORLD specifically, or another single title. Once they have more of the single in stock, the bundle should be available again as well.

Captain America: Brave New World 4k/3D is up on Amazon Japan
https://amzn.asia/d/3OCY8Ry

Only looks like the standard edition is available to ship to USA.
You might have to click See All Buying Options in order to add to cart.

They're charging the usual very high Shipping rate rn. Not sure if you'll be able to cancel/rebuy (the standard edition) or not. Last time they stopped selling to USA.
Estimated to be $176 USD for me. I think I'll wait or order from Yes Asia or HMV when it shows up there.

Glad it’s out, but yeah, that price is insane. Definitely need to wait on YesAsia, though if they’re ordering them from Japan, I guess they’ll have tariff markups of some kind too. It might be a little easier on the pocketbook here in Canada, and previous Japanese 3D discs from YesAsia have actually shipped to me from within Toronto, but because I’m not sure how their logistics work these discs could be just as expensive here, I suppose. There’s definitely a threshold I just can’t go over.

I made an order on April 9. 2025, shipped to the US. No tariff issue.

There's still the $800 de minimis exception for personal imports. Only China and Hong Kong imports no longer have the de minimis exception.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-shee...opioid-crisis/
Following the Secretary of Commerce’s notification that adequate systems are in place to collect tariff revenue, President Trump is ending duty-free de minimis treatment for covered goods from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Hong Kong starting May 2, 2025 at 12:01 a.m. EDT.
