Interesting.
Wonder if it's any good.
I'll just wait for AB. If the are working on it, we will get it around Halloween which is when I'd watch these anyway.

I'd be more tempted if that was Halloween 4. Halloween 5 is pretty bad (but I'll probably end up getting them all sooner or later ).

I hope they release them in a double feature (2 discs, 1 case). Or at least have that be an option, in the essence of saving space.

The first Anchor Bay release was a piece of shit with a notoriously bad transfer.
The second "20th Anniversary" release was an improvement, but still had an iffy transfer.
The Divimax edition had an improved transfer, but they also dicked around with the color-timing, which pissed off a lot of folks. They also didn't include the TV scenes anywhere on the disc.
The blu-ray was, more or less, a direct port of the Divimax edition with a few minor improvement to the color timing, but removed a few of the special features and still didn't include the TV scenes.

Honestly with all the history of these movies and their various home video releases I'm just going to wait for the "Everything that Anchor Bay owns and can possibly license including the kitchen sink" edition. It's anchor bay - it will happen at some point.

Hate to say it, but Anchor Bay is about one step away from being Mill Creek or Echo Bridge.

I'm not into collecting or reading up on the entertainment industry like I used to, but has Anchor Bay really gotten that bad? They were the absolute best during DVDs infancy. I didn't know they had gone down hill like that.

It was William Lustig who was responsible for almost all of Anchor Bay's horror output during the early days of DVD. He left to form Blue Underground and took a number of the titles with him.
Anchor Bay was then bought out by Starz, the premium cable channel, and is now mostly used to release Starz/AMC properties to home video, new b-movies (like Alphabet Killer), budget releases of mostly forgotten 80s and 90s movies (Bye Bye Love, The Truth About Cats and Dogs), and something cool like Battle Royale will occasionally trickle out. But the days of AB releasing nicely made special editions of classic cult and horror movies seem to be long gone.

When Anchor Bay was purchased by Starz and Bill Lustig (as previously mentioned) alongside Michael Felsher left the company, their output has never been the same. While Lustig brought a lot of "big" cult titles into the mix, Felsher made those titles worth all the more by making sure the releases were top notch and actually had substantial bonus material.
Their four-disc Battle Royale set is, by far, their best release in quite awhile despite the fact its missing nearly an hour of bonus material that's wildly available elsewhere (amongst other things). Their Blu-ray release of The Evil Dead had a fantastic transfer, but again, is missing bonus material from Anchor Bay's three-disc UE DVD release. However, that release is already out-of-print.
If they could take that same time and energy and give other films just sitting and collecting dust in their catalog a similar type of release, they could easily regain the throne in the hearts of film geeks and Blu-ray collectors alike. However, outside of releases for AMC/Starz/The Weinstein Company, they're nearly becoming a studio that releases bargain-bin titles to Wal-Mart and the like.

DD lists 8/21 release dates for both Halloween 4 and Halloween 5 ($24.99 list for each), which seems a little early, unless they're trying to avoid being lost in the shuffle with the Shout discs on 9/18?

I'm very much looking forward to these titles. After these I'll have all the Halloween titles on BD (minus the terrible Halloween III which I wouldn't buy on BD anyway!)

Well, we have pre-orders up at DD and confirmation from 'The Official Website of Michael Myers' (which I admit knowing nothing about, but they seem legit) - that's nothing official from AB or an Amazon listing, but it seems pretty believable to me, and there's certainly enough time for the latter two scenarios to occur before August 21st.
