I wouldn't mind owning this but $30 is a bit steep for a bare bones release for a movie that I don't love (I like it but it was never my favorite). An autographed copy would sweeten the deal but I don't have $100 worth of stuff I want to order.

yeah no way in hell would I be buying this . Price is laughable. I would only pay at most $5 for this seeing as how its bare bones. LAME.
i ended up picking up the USED DVD earlier this year for $2.50. ...
I have waited 13 years for a damn special edition of this and I finally gave up. Ugh. Maybe we will get a SE for part 2. Who owns the rights to that now? LIonsgate?

But you have to pay shipping to get the Blu-ray from this one vendor, right? So it's more than $25...

I did say "plus shipping" but the price listed for the BD itself is $25

Haven't seen it at that price. Still $29.95 + shipping at ScreenArchives.com...was last week when I placed my order; still at the same price right now.

Screen Archives is selling it through Amazon as well but not at any sort of discount. (I think it all evens out in the end, but the base price is higher though shipping is a lot less.)

Not likely - I'm guessing they'll be all gone in a few days. For what it's worth, you can only add 192 to your cart on SAE's site.

They'll be readily available for some time. You can now get one for free with a $100 order (not only free - but a SIGNED copy!). Lots of scalpers trying to get rich quick, but forget this is a small cult film that likely just sold to it's complete audience.

I pre-ordered it and watched it last week. It looked great. I'm very happy to have gotten this. I wasn't happy at the price or the fact that it's pretty bare bones, but in the end, I'm glad to have it.

Totally agree. The blu ray on this one looks great. Well worth the price.

Sold out? I can't get it to show up in a search now, and it has disappeared from their top sellers list.

Re: Fright Night (1985): Twilight Time exclusive - 12/13/11

I still can't really understand the complaints on the price. Not to get all "old man" about it, but just out of curiosity I was looking at my Amazon and DVD Empire history from 8-10 years ago and I regularly paid $20-$30 for new catalog titles that had probably about the same amount of extras, if not less, than this Fright Night Blu, and that was for standard DVDs. It's about the movie, and the best possible presentation of the movie, extras are just that, extra. It's a great presentation, nicely done, with the trailers and a nice booklet with an essay.

It's 2011. We are now conditioned to pay $10ish for a catalog title, not $30. Are we going to discuss how we could buy brand new cars for $3,500 in 1950, but now, a shitty Kia is $10k? Times change. OD sales are dropping. Charging $30 for a title that would have normally been $10 is a ripoff.

Can't wait to flip all my copies on eBay. Mwuahahaha.

And piss off customers? Doubt it. They are in the limited run business. They bought the rights to sell 3k, not as many as they wanted.

3k sold in 2 months isn't really good anyway. People act like this is a huge success. 1/3 were bought to flip.

I'm sure that didn't come right out of your ass. It's really that hard to believe Fright Night has over 2000 fans?
