I expected a number of these titles to get re-released but by another company a few more years down the road, not by TT and so quickly.

Have to agree...if TT thinks they get bad press NOW just wait until they re-release so-called "limited editions" under the idea that once they're sold out, they're gone. That's how these things are promoted. If one were so inclined, it could turn into a legal matter, perhaps a class action lawsuit. Think about it.
TT, if you're listening, just continue forth on releasing new titles. Don't double dip. Huge can of worms there guys.

Bad move. Move on to new movies instead of burning customers who bought titles with the understanding they'd be limited as advertised. Adding more bonus material just adds salt to the wound. If the original releases were sold at typical prices, I don't think they'd be burning bridges but they were sold at a premium. As the saying goes, burn me once...

If TT renews their deal with Sony over Fright Night, they would be foolish NOT to re-release this. I wouldn't be suprised if the same exact disc/artwork was released and it sold out again. It's a pretty good marketing strategy. It sucks for the people who spent +$100 on this or any other title on the 3rd party market but if you want it bad enough, you'll pay for it.

True, and what do those that are whining about it expect TT to do, keep renewing the license every three years so no other studio can release it, just so some people can think they are going to get rich off a piece of plastic? They said it would be a limited edition of 3000, nothing more. If they release a new edition that has added content, it is a new and different edition. A class action suit would fall flat on it's face.

From another site: this is being released in Germany on Sept. 9. If it's like other Sony titles it will be region free with everything (menus, etc) in English.

Twilight Time has already hinted that this will probably be one of the titles they are re-visiting.
I never got one so I am happy it will be available again.

As a customer, I took TT at their word and was diligent to get the titles I wanted. (Fully realizing that there's a good chance that in a few years some of the titles will see re-release by another company.) I certainly didn't expect TT to keep renewing their deal just to keep the titles out of print. But, now they proved to me that when they say "limited," it's at their option during the time they have the title. That's their decision. But now I won't be so hot to pay a premium for their titles.
I wouldn't care if these titles were $15 or less. At $30 plus I care. I feel it's fair for me to feel a little deceived. I could understand if they just re-released Fright Night since it appears to be the highest in demand and I actually think that would be a positive thing to do for all the fans. But re-releasing several titles will hurt the limited branding they created and sales will drop.
By having titles vanish quickly, it was great publicity for their line and have increased demand, so logically they should increase the number of the run rather than repress, which I feel will have a negative impact. I know I bought a couple of titles that I normally wouldn't have because I figured they would quickly sell out and I felt it was now or never. Christine was one of those. Titles like Fright Night and the Harryhausen flicks I would still buy either way.
Personally, I'm surprised they haven't put two and two together and released more horror and fantasy titles.

I don't think the people behind Twilight Time are really into horror movies, they simply stumbled into the market by accident when they released Fright Night and it instantly sold out. The one guy's expertise was in handling classic film soundtrack archives for Fox.

If a title sells out and another new batch won't be produced until 3 years later then I would consider it limited.

There are a lot of legitimate reasons to dislike Twilight Time. However, the one thing you can't accuse them of is not being honest about their business model. They've been pretty transparent regarding their arrangements with the various studios. Anyone who is surprised by the fact that any of these titles are getting re-released hasn't been paying attention.

"Having to pay attention" means doing business with them over time. And, yes, I've learned how they operate and now know better. They'll be getting a little less of my money but I'm not going to stop ordering from them. It's not that big of a deal but it's good to know of their practice and tactics.
As for Fright Night, I think it's a great idea to re-release it. It was the first sell-out and it caught a lot of customers off guard and it'll be cool to give them a chance to pick up on the title. If they do this for a bunch of titles then it punches a hole in the limited aspect.
As for them not being in the horror/sci-fi biz, I'd say they got a foot in it with a number of their soundtracks and now videos. If that's the stuff that's selling out, I'd be putting more out.

I missed out last time so I'm definitely in for this one.
Lionsgate is just sitting on Part II, which I would also pick up.

Didn't say. Apparently this was in an ad featured in the new Rue Morgue. I'd wager a guess that all their "prestige" (read: uber-popular) horror titles will get a bump up to 5,000.

I guess it should be noted a German region-free BD of Fright Night came out a few weeks ago (as another user above noted in July), and is pretty cheap to boot.
DVD Beaver did a comparison--slightly superior video quality compared to TT, but the tradeoff is the German BD does not have lossless audio and lacks extras.
