The 2D deluxe version could be $49.99, and the 3D deluxe version at $54.99. I think Paramount prices their 3D sets higher than anyone. Even Disney.

and I gather less than what one expects from them, until I see the three 3D blurays that are coming out tomorrow, Paramount/Dreamworks might be shortchanging it's customers $51.99 (MSRP) for 3D blu's (you gotta be frickin' kidding me)

Walmart is having an exclusive 1-disc version ($29.99 list) with Sentinel Prime on the cover. I may go for that. Their combo pack also shows a $44.99 list.

Walmart Exclusive

I'm sure the bare bones will come out first and then a better edition a few months later. This is typical movie label strategy. Addicts will buy the bare bones AND will buy the better edition in a few months.

I can wait.

This isn't that common. Aside from Avatar, there have been very few releases were a 100% barebones release comes out and a Feature packed one hits a few months later.

Even though Avatar was the shittiest film in the past decade, at least it made a huge grip of money in Theaters and the marketing gimmick made sense. For Transformers, it did what it did. Nothing that special.

I just read DVDactive.com's post on this and they confirm this is 100% barebones with no extras.

Damn, I was really looking forward to getting this, but I don't want a barebones release.

Wait 'til December and rent this release to tide you over. Pretty easy.

I got suckered into getting the barebones of Avatar cos everyone was proclaiming it to be the best BD ever (ot really isn't) and the CE actually looks and sounds better (the contrast and the audio were tweaked just a bit). So I'll wait this time around.

I did see a trilogy pack selling on one of Amazon's sites to be sold later this year, so it is coming. I'm holding out for that as well. But hopefully all the extras will be in this 3-movie pack.

Re: Tranformers: Dark of the Moon - 9/30/11

Damn that is tempting.

Are we getting a version with the IMAX scenes (like the Walmart exclusive for ROTF)?

The HD Room received their review copy today. They posted that it includes a $10 off coupon on the upcoming 3D combo pack.

So is there a deluxe blu ray version (without the 3D) being released in the future as well?

I see no mention of the score CD in that Ultimate Edition.

The scan says it's for a 3 disc set: 3D BD, BD and DVD. I think Paramount is just going to release one deluxe edition to cover everything.

Best Buy's price is tempting, but I think I'll wait for the release with extras.

Re: Tranformers: Dark of the Moon - 9/30/11

It sucks because that cover with the really bad ass Optimus Prime on is only a barebones release and i'll bet anything that the 'ultimate' edition coming out in november will have an atrocious badly photophopped image of Sam and Prime and probably Carly too and the Army dudes.

I love that cover but i don't want to get it because there's a better edition coming out!

I'm noticing a trend with the barebones or just plain 1 disc edition of blu ray movies usually have better artwork than the special edition or 3D releases (like Thor and Captain America etc)

I remember back in DVD days the 2 disc edition pretty much always had better artwork than the single FULL SCREEN edition with their floating heads on the cover to attract J6P
