My girlfriend actually has the Canadian DVD of the first film. She's a massive Harry Potter nerd, having collected a bunch of Potter stuff, including the first book in Latin...

I'll admit I have the UK version. Screw that dumbed down American version.

Check out the "Intégrale Harry Potter 11 Blu-ray - Edition limitée spécifique Amazon.fr - Coffret collector incluant baguette de Sureau [Blu-ray]" in amazon.fr

not so cool as collector's edition "Hogwarts Castle", but still cool.

You get what I can only assume is a director's baton - or a wand.

I'm pretty sure that's the Elder Wand. That packaging looks sweet!

trespoochies, thank you. I don't have 30 posts yet, I couldn't do it.

collver, I think so too... it is just like Elder Wand.

It's a beautiful edition, but way too expensive (hurts my pocket )... But I think I'm gonna buy it, unless they do a better edition. Does anyone knows if there's another limited edition of all collection to be released any time soon?

You can bet your stepchildren that WB will release a definitive edition with special features people want to see. If you're just in it for the films, then by all means, go ahead.

About $250 shipped. I don't know if I like HP that much, but it does look sweet.

I'll need to meditate on this.

You know... I just want a set that only contains the movies with only a few or preferably no special features (maybe commentaries...)
Sadly, I think that'll never happen.

I have held off on buying the movies, but I would love to have a box set of the ultimate edition blurays minus all the other stuff included in UE boxes out now.

There'll definitely be a generic 1-8 set without many bonus discs (I think the last set had one), but stripped of special features... yeah, don't see that happening. I don't really see a cost savings in that either, unless at some point they go the double-feature route or something, very far down the road.

Looking at the Blu Ray bargains area, dugnarug posted a couple of links Amazon UK already has up for preorder for the entire collection. The limited edition on looks really nice.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Harry-Potter...1-8&tag=vig-21

And the standard box set they release every time a new movie comes out.

Per DVD Dizzy, an eight-disc set will be released at the same time as the 7.2 Blu, then "Following this holiday season, the entire franchise will be going on moratorium, disappearing from stores indefinitely. " In other words, tell everyone it's all going away so that people will buy them now, and then next holiday season or something, release the ultimate complete set.

Yup. I'll simply wait for an ultimate set.

Dumb question, have the pre-Blu DVD features been brought over to the Blurays?

Thanks for the link. I wonder what content those 3 bonus discs will include. Stuff copied from the US ultimate editions, or all new content for this release? Also, do the UK versions contain the same extras that the US versions already have?

This.

I haven't decided if I need to own these films, but I like them well enough to have them I think. I have no desire for massive packaging and such. Just give me a regular sized box with the blus. I say give me the Ultimate disc based extras with them and that's what I'd want but the reality is I still probably wouldn't watch much of them. I rarely watch the extras on new or blockbuster type films. I do for older, classic, cult or genre type films.

Just saw this after I posted. How do these extras stack up to the ultimate sets? Frankly, this is kind of the thing I was waiting for, but I would probably wait till they fully did them right (after this moratorium).

If I can find this cheap enough down the line I may snag it. However, I'm going to try to hold off until this moratorium thing has passed to see if they come out with the Uber Edition we're expecting (sans extravagant $200-$450 packaging).

I just rewatched all the Harry Potters this Summer so I think I can go a while before I feel the need to revisit them.

Haven't heard anything about this. Not sure if it really will be a Target exclusive or not. Doc looks interesting though.

Touching Trailer for 'When Harry Left Hogwarts' Documentary
Tragically, this tremendous bonus feature is only available in a limited Blu-ray box set

Now that the "Harry Potter" franchise has truly ended (with the last book published in 2007, and the last film released earlier this year), it's time to reflect back on the magical series of books and films that captivated witches and wizards of all ages. You know what that means? Massive box sets! The final film, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is coming to home video on November 11, and Target will mark that day with another release - a giant Blu-ray box set that includes all eight Potter films. But what's most intriguing about the Target set is a bonus feature that will only be available with said set.

Director Morgan Matthews was granted special access to the sets of the final two Potter films, and the resulting product is a 48-minute documentary called "When Harry Left Hogwarts." The film doesn't just cover the normal ground of production docs, as even in this trailer, it's quite obvious that Matthews was going for a broad spectrum of insights and interviews. Sure, there's interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, but there's also touching behind-the-scenes glimpses at the creation of more emotional scenes, as well as interviews with members of the cast and crew that might not normally get the limelight. For fans of the series, it's a bit of a must-watch, it's just unfortunate that the doc is only available as part of a single retailer's special set.

Here's hoping that Warner Bros. wises up and releases the doc on its own.

The special Target Blu-ray "Harry Potter" box set will be available on November 11.

48 minutes? Eh, maybe if it were Empire of Dreams length.

Anyone know why this is under review at amazon?

http://www.amazon.com/Harry-Potter-Y...9216133&sr=1-1

It says it has parts 1-7 (part 1). Not a bad price on a used set.

Customers probably complained that it didn't have all eight movies

Guess this was to be expected.

Warner Home Video To Pull All Harry Potter Home Video Products in Late December

Deadline are reporting that WHV are looking at a vault style release schedule for their multi-billion dollar Harry Potter movie franchise. The report indicates that WHV are going to pull all versions of Harry Potter from sale on December 29th 2011.

This means that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection will have just eight weeks on general sale before they are pulled from shelves and supply becomes seriously constrained.

WHV have not announced their future plans for the franchise and how they will take advantage of the vault, but we can expect Collectors Editions or Special Editions released on an annual basis with extra features and deleted scenes taking advantage of holiday season purchasing habits.
