I thought you meant this was Amazon's price, not MSRP. Amazon currently has it for about $56!

Wouldn't judge by what with them having to first rip the scenes from whatever master they're working with, compressing after editing, and then compressing it again for YouTube.

Re: Jurassic Park: Ultimate Trilogy - 10/25/11

Is it compressed for YouTube? Because it seems like if it's on there in 1080p, they wouldn't have done anything to it.

Re: Jurassic Park: Ultimate Trilogy - 10/25/11

I wanna say Youtube 1080p is 4-6mbs while Blu-ray is 25-30mbs.

It's definitely compressed a lot.

Yeah it's compressed.

How bout encasing the discs in a block of Amber.

I may take a serous look at this. The first one is a classic. You don't even need to be looking at the picture to tell what it is when you hear that distinctive foot sound get closer. I can remember when this came out it was a must for D.D & DTS owners.

Didn't Spielberg require that theaters upgrade to DTS when it came out?

I'm sure he did. I thought DTS debuted with this film.

That would be cool, too. Or maybe a plastic Ford Explorer. The toy from the movie had the clear roof that you could open to put figures inside. They could do something like that. Or maybe a big dinosaur egg with swing out trays or you could unscrew the top half of the egg and have the discs sitting inside in those little plastic cases that are only as big as the discs themselves.

For those who are waiting (like me) I would guess a 20th(!!!) anniversary release of the same discs in early 2013. It appears an official release of BTTF without digital copies is coming in August. (check Amazon) I'd guess the same thing with this trilogy next summer.

That is correct but I was refering to when it came out on DVD. DTS made it's debut with Jurassic Park in theaters in 1993 but didn't come out on DVD till 2000.

Universal didn't turn around and do a 10th Anniversary release in '03 so why are you so sure that they're gonna double-dip this thing in '13? I personally think any such release is unlikely. Universal was actually very anti-multi-dip with this series. They even allowed customers to upgrade their box sets via mailaway when the third film was released. That's on top of the fact that the double-dip bubble has pretty much burst in the HD era. Studios are having a hard enough time getting people to re-buy stuff on Blu once let alone twice.

But hey, if you get a charge out of holding out for a release that may never materialize more power to you. As for waiting nearly a year for Universal to DOWNGRADE their BTTF set by removing completely optional content? Keep fighting the good fight I guess.

I wouldnt plan on a rerelease until Jurassic Park 4 hits theatres , whenever spielberg gets around to that, since hes been indicating more and more lately hes probably going to direct it when it does start shooting.
and even then universal just might kick in a new box for us like they did with the dvd set, like the other poster above mentioned

I suppose it's too much to hope that Stephen will admit on the boxed set that he really "phoned-it-in" when it came to THE LOST WORLD.

I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed Part 3...although we all can agree the first movie is by far the best of the lot.

Oh, and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for JURASSIC PARK 4...last I heard, that production was in the proverbial "Development Hell". I'm not even sure it's at the script-writing stage yet.

Stephen King's Jurassic Park!

At any rate, having no script didn't hold up production of JP3.

So it'll have a great setup, solid development, and a lackluster ending?

Apollo 13 15th, Backdraft 20th, etc. (ET 30th next year?) I would place more importance on current release practices.

That would be news to Universal, who just repackaged a dozen or so BD/DVD/DC combos last week...

How many of those were Blu-ray double-dips? Here's a hint: none of them.

Those were unadvertised packaging tweaks quietly issued with no fanfare. Do you consider it a double-dip when a studio puts a bunch of existing discs out with "I Love The 80's" slipcovers?

I don't think it's that relevant, but I do think there is something to be said about the combo packs, which add a DVD to a bunch of Blu-Rays. Considering selling my DVD and Blu-Ray of In Bruges and getting the combo pack just to save a tiny bit of space.
