Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy 7-disc, March 1, 2011

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004D8P230

MSRP $72.99

Looks like Disney is re-releasing this just before the fourth film, On Stranger Tides, opens in May.

No information about what is on this, but I would wager it's the existing editions of the movies with a new seventh disc of bonus content. Whether that content is anything substantial, or just promoting On Stranger Tides is yet to be seen.

My forecast would be the Disney Steelbook of Pirates Of Carribean will rise up in market value now that Bestbuy stopped making them or sold out at most stores now.

Maybe this release will come in a flimsy cardboard treasure chest packaging, a la the Ultimate Toy Box release for the Toy Story trilogy.

I still haven't gotten these on BD. Might bite on this if the price/content is right.

They are some pretty seelbooks too. I don't particularly care about value.. but if the price is right I'd consider unloading it.

I'm willing to bet the 7th disc is promo fluff for the new movie.

Already got the box set 2 years ago on BF for $37.99. I'll pass on this.

I already picked up the steelbooks for the 3 movies. Unless the 7th disc has some really substantial content, I'll pass.

I'm very happy with my Bestbuy steelbooks I am curious to see the packaging though. It would be nice if they did something creative instead of sticking all three movies in a new box.

I might get the first one on blu, but the second and third ones aren't that great.

Picked up the existing trilogy boxset for $39.99 last week so even with the extra content, I'm happy with it and no need to rebuy them.

Happy with the current editions I have.

Have a gut feeling (like others) that the 7th disc won't be anything too significant.

Going to pass until they're done with the series and then buy it.

Amazon has the artwork. This comes with movie cash and a bonus disc that includes never-before-seen deleted scenes.

Also, they are re-releasing the first 3 separately and including the dvd version of each.

I procrastinated in getting the second and third since I only really wanted At World's End, so I actually might pick this up.

Except it's not a trilogy anymore. This set is outdated before it's even released.

It technically is, since they bullshi**ed 2 and 3 as a continuation of 1, and 4 is 100% stand alone

Disney have already announced plans for Pirates 5 and 6 btw, so this is like, the 1st trilogy

It's no worse than 2004's Star Wars Trilogy box coming with Episodes I & II already out and III a year off. In any event, we only have The Curse of the Black Pearl on Blu; the other two are the 2-disc SE DVDs. I don't know that we'll bite on this release. Probably not; there are bigger Blu fish to fry, but at least it suggests that these movies should stay in circulation and keep prices low--especially on the secondary market.

Right? I'm extremely dubious as to how the next two will turn out after the last two were so weak. I only have the first because I got it free with the Blu-ray promo a few years ago.

Admittedly, I agree. I have all three of them (again, as the Best Buy steelbooks), but mainly because I could have the whole set, and because the movies, IMO, are watchable. But again, the sequels are a big step down from the first one.

I figured at this point I'll just wait for the four-movie collection.

I think you mean the 6 movie collection since they are most likely going back and filming films 5 and 6 back to back sometime soon.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy 7-disc, March 1, 2011

I never picked up any in Blu...but AFTER Christmas (and getting about a dozen BD movies under the tree) wife asked if we could get POC!

Sooo...any current deals? Wouldn't mind a "set" if price was right. Though mainly interested in movies.
