LOL. He means the movie '2012'.

IMHO the most desired OOP/rare Region A/US is the Akira first printing. That's the only one that if you didn't get it on the release day... you were absolutely screwed. Have never seen one in the wild since release day (well, unless I look at my BD shelf ;) ). Since the disc has no special features, the book is absolutely key to the release.

The Evil Dead LE is another one that seemed to disappear like 2 weeks.

OP... if you think the Avatar 3-disc is going to be limited... yer nuts. I could see it out of retail channels eventually if it is an LE... but there are going to be a BAJILLION used copies floating around FOREVER. I bet they printed at least 100,000 copies from all the copies I saw on BF.

Other than that... it comes down to packaging/slipcovers.

Is Grindhouse really limited? I know that it's not stocked very well in B&M stores but that's the first I've heard of it being limited.

I've got to admit that I laugh every time I see this thread. It's like a perfect storm of terrible grammar, poor spelling and a stream of consciousness list that is trying to account for too many things.

I still have two copies of that. Have only one of the Hancock disc. Too bad Sony/Best Buy stopped giving them out.

The definition of RARE, to the point that some have debated if it's real!

Comic Con Exclusive Slipcover:

I think I've seen two users that actually had it, and they might have been the same person for all I know!

Along with the Criterion Blu-ray of The Third Man in itself, the digipack version's just about impossible to find. It's distinctive for this artwork, seen after the slipcase has been removed:

Was there another release of this? Or is this the only one?

Hmm, looks like i'll go to back to Best Buy tomorrow and pick it up. It's been sitting there forever.

I know I had one of the more rare steelbooks (Iron Man FutureShop) and I had the Akira first pressing at one point, but sold both when money was a bit tighter a year and a half ago.

I've got the Blade Runner briefcase in HD-DVD. Wonder how rare that is.......

Of course, I got the Blu-ray stand-alone version when is was being sold cheap, too.

I'd really love to get my hands on the Hurt Locker steelbook, and the Natural Born Killers book-style BR.

i already have two Hurt Lockers, the 1st print, and then the 2nd Academy Awards version.

Re: Most limited and rarest Region A Blu-Rays

the OP is correct, the release of Grindhouse is limited, they only printed a certain batch. The fact that its not selling well may attest to why its still so readily available. but apparently, when they sell out, there wont be anymore, and they will release a version that only comes in standard case.

I also want to add that I am so glad I got a target SE Iron Man 2. Not only is it a very cool steelbook, its also a lenticular cover, AND numbered on the front!!! I got #900 out of 30K.

I bought the briefcase of the Blu-ray, but was given a briefcase copy for the HD DVD by WB to review, and it came with one or two items that aren't in the retail cases.

Iron Man 2 is not a SteelBook, FYI.
