The Sound of Music, November 2nd
Amazon has added pricing and release dates for the BD release of The Sound of Music:
The Sound of Music (45th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray + DVD in BD case] $24.99
The Sound of Music (45th Anniversary Edition) [DVD + Blu-ray in DVD case] $25.99
The MSRP is $34.99, which is rather high for a catalog release; perhaps this is typical for Fox, I haven't been paying much attention to their recent catalog pricing.

^Looking forward to this also! The Sound of Music has been high on my "want" list for years. The old "Five Star Collection" DVD I have is fairly poor in PQ and I'm hoping for a good remastering on the BD release.

$34.99 seems reasonable for a 3 hour, 70mm classic title that underwent a sizable restoration and includes a nice collection of extras.

Yes, this is typical for Fox. However, Amazon is not discounting this title as much as some others. For example, Moulin Rouge also has a $34.99 MSRP, yet Amazon only wants $18.49 for it. Likewise with Fight Club, which is only $13.99 now.

Fight Club has been out for almost a year now though.....I'm sure if you wait for 10 or more months after TSOM is released, you will be able to find the standard release of it around the same price range then as well....

True, but it goes to show you there isn't necessarily a lot of correlation between MSRP and street price nowadays.

saw a trailer for a sing along version that Fox is releasing in digital projection form (from the bluray restoration/transfer) just prior to the film's release on bluray.

I really hope Fox continues this trend.

Yeah I was pretty on the fence about buying this, but assuming it's the same height as normal digibooks, I'm definitely interested.

No one, but that happens in other threads like The Color Purple. I do like the look of this one myself.

I just ordered the limited edition at foxconnect.com for $59.99, minus a 10% off coupon for new customers, so the total was $53.99 with free shipping. My wife loves this movie, and we went to Salzburg last year, where she had a great time, so this is a Christmas present for her.

Definitely in for the movie but no interest in the other stuff I'm afraid. Actually I wish I could buy those movie only versions that Blockbuster gets assuming they are cheaper than the retail versions. I never watch any extras anyway.

Target will have the book version of The Sound of Music for $19.99. Amazon has matched that price for the regular BD/DVD combo pack.
(Target also seems to be offering a $5 discount for those who buy SoM and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, FWIW.)
