But hey, we all have different opinions and yours is one of the few on the internet that I actually respect. If I didn't get this title already, your review would have pushed me over the line. Really good blind buy for people and totally dug all the little references.
I did find the double stuff funny.
Scott and Roxy appeared in Arrested Development.
Young Niel and the guy in the first band (Beaver from Veronica Mars) appeared in Jennifers Body together.
And one more I forgot. Damnit.
Proud of myself I caught all the X's and numbers before each battle (had no idea to even look for them, but I saw the 2 for the 2 guy, 3 for 3, 4 in the buillding etc.)

5/5 for Video? I think your love for the film may have clouded you a bit here. I've seen the Blu-ray (and DVD) but did not see it in Theaters so I really can't judge it there (often times the BD will look way better anyway), but no way is this perfect. Unless soft and drab is perfect for a movie that looks like it should be candy colored like a vibrant videogame. I agree with your Audio review, and I suppose the Special Features (I have not even started watching those), and while I loved the movie, it's not a perfect either (pacing is a bit slow in the middle, and the Twins battle seemed like a cop out because they ran out of time). I think your going to be the only review on the net that is a 4.5 (or equivalent) for PQ.

The general expectation is that a movie like this would be exceptionally bright and colorful, but everything felt right to me on Blu-ray. I did see it twice theatrically (once on 35mm; once digitally), for whatever that's worth. I wouldn't trust myself to remember specific color saturation, but I didn't think anything like "boy, this is dark" when I was watching it on Blu-ray.
The extras do talk about how deliberately drab the image is in parts (even replacing all the clothes in a Goodwill store to get rid of all the color!)...the idea's to emphasize certain colors in certain places, particularly Ramona's hair.
I definitely appreciate the vote of confidence! I get pretty much zero feedback on my reviews, so it's nice to hear compliments like that.

Knowing how the film is supposed to look, Id probably give it a 4.25. But I'm not reviewing this film so I didn't really give it that 'second look' I normally would (kudos to my friend who gets these really early and lets me watch them when I don't get a review copy).
I always forget to comment on reviews. As someone who reviews myself, comments are always appreciated.
BTW, I did the 2D to 3D conversion on this film (with my Samsung), and it actually looked pretty cool.

Woah, really? He looks just like him! (the guy in the back who yells 'to the asshole in the balcony' or something like that). Right?

Yeah, and it drew an insane amount of traffic too. For a while there, one out of every three reviews that was read at DVD Talk was my Scott Pilgrim write-up. In a really good day, I might be getting 10% of the overall page views, and that's mostly when I post a bunch of new reviews at once. Today I was at 36% with just this!

I just read your review, Adam. It took me half an hour to go through it all. I can't even begin to imagine how much time you probably spent writing the entire thing and covering all of that content. It was a great review for an incredible film. Congrats on Edgar Wright taking notice and wanting to share it with the world!

Man, I loved this movie. Wasn't that keen on it from the trailers (which I didn't think were very useful as far as the movie content), but the wife talked me into seeing it.
Good review. Glad to hear they didn't screw up the PQ or anything like that, and lots of special features!

Now we all know why Peter Travers loves every movie..he gets more publicity.
While funny and wonderful..the movie may deserve the Collector Series recommendation..but it's really sad that right next to it Toy Story 3 gets only "Highly Recommended" ..I've seen both blu rays and TS3 deserves as much recognition (if not more). [I almost created a separate thread for this...]

I was depressed when I saw the release week prices for the blu-ray. Then I saw that a local store is actually going to have it for $16 this week!
