Re: Top 10 Most Wanted Criterion blu-ray upgrades

I see several mentions for Nights of Cabiria, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe Criterion has the rights to that one anymore.

Re: Top 10 Most Wanted Criterion blu-ray upgrades

Ranked by order of priority:

1) Fanny and Alexander
1) Solaris
1) Tokyo Story
1) Yi-Yi
1) Rules of the Game
1) In the Mood for Love
1) Army of Shadows
1) Ikiru
1) Ugetsu
1) Spirit of the Beehive

Several of these are headline titles, so I am willing to bet I will have several of them in hand within a year or two. I have been very pleased with the releases (and announcements) so far, as 8 1/2, the Seventh Seal, Seven Samurai would have been on the above list.

I don't get it. Why do they still release titles without a day & date on Blu-ray?

I already own the theatrical cut on bluray - but I'd love the full miniseries cut in hidef though.

1 checked off for every two months wait. Not bad. I'm pretty surprised at the Yi-Yi announcement... I didn't think that this would be so high on their radar. Pretty exciting!

Criterion no longer has the rights to these. Studio Canal just released Peeping Tom on Blu-ray, so we'll probably get a Lionsgate edition at some point.

Well, that sucks. However, one never knows what deals they could make in the future.

Yeah, it looks like they went crazy with the DNR. I do prefer the Christie commentary to Mulvey's though.
