Evil Dead - August 31, 2010
Amazon now has a listing for The Evil Dead with a August 31, 2010. No other info about it yet, hopefully they'll include a copy of the full frame release and not just the relatively new cropped widescreen release.

Hopefully, it'll include all the extras from the Ultimate Edition. I certainly want to grab this, so that I can complete the trilogy on Blu.

As I have noted a few years ago, Ultimate was missing a recorded commentary from the Ladies of the Evil Dead (that was mentioned in one of the new featurettes). Hopefully the blu will include this one.
But I'll have to get it no matter what. I might not be Xage, but as a fan I owe it to myself to own a copy of each film in high definition.

What are the over/under odds that the release will have both the 1.33:1 and 1.78:1 versions on the disc? I know the 1.78:1 is (now) Raimi's preferred version, but most consider the 1.33:1 version as the OAR.
If Anchor Bay matches the UE and just puts it out on BD, I'll easily upgrade.

On the first HD release? No way it will have both. The movie's fans have proven that we'll buy anything they shove out, so I imagine it will take at least three releases before we get both aspect ratios, some of the older DVD special features, and a couple new tidbits.

A press sheet has been released
The only new thing it mentions is a commentary with Raimi, Campbell and Tapert. Doesn't mention the aspect ratio, just says "Brand-new hi-def transfer supervised and approved by Sam Raimi" which I fear means it will be the 1.85:1 version.

I have the Book of the Dead and the Elite version on DVD. I'm pretty sure that I'll get this (maybe not release day, but certainly once we get a price drop to $15 and under), I'd be a fool to think I wouldn't.
