Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

My UK Steelbook has made it as far as Kentucky, which means I should have it in my hands on Friday. I can hardly wait to watch this after work on Friday!

My copy left NJ early this morning. Estimated delivery to CT (less than an hour drive from where it was in NJ) is Aug 17. Yesterday it said Aug 19.

In my experience the estimated delivery date is always several days later than it actually arrives.

Quick question: Is Lamb to the Slaughter also in HD?

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

I'm watching this now and I'm very impressed. I think this is a new reference quality disc for older black & white movies.

The package includes a Criterion-esque booklet with notes and pictures. And it plays perfectly on a US Playstation 3.

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

So have we confirmed that only the steelbook has the booklet? That would make my decision for me.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

...if you read the DVDbeaver review..it says it right there. So.....yes..yes, it does have it.

Minor gripe about the Steelbook: Uhm...is it me or does it look a bit weird? The cover of it? as if the actress and the background are given a different physical definition? Something about it....bothers me. Anyone else see it?

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

It looks like they kept the brightness and contrast of Leigh but changed the tile to make it more noticeable. It also looks like they are using a different background altogether.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

Yeah....that's what it is. The pictures we've seen of it didn't look like this...not a deal breaker..just annoying cover art design to me. Again..it's what's on the BD not the package that matters.

The packaging looks a little better in real life.

something that an actual photo of the product doesn't show well? I'm getting it regardless...

Actually, I checked it again and it's more obvious that Leigh is much more pronounced in the foreground.

I don't see why it would be a big deal. I think it looks better.

Just to be clear, the UK steelbook has everything the US edition will have?

If The Beatles had stayed together after making Abbey Road instead of breaking up, what do you think their next album would have sounded like?

It looks like they cut her face out of a magazine and tapes it to the cover. It just does not blend well with the background.

Like the UK Steelbook of Green Zone, Janet and the background are printed in a special way, so that when the book catches the light one way she's silver, and the other way a bit pink. It makes her stand out from the background, and is pretty effective.

In real life, this is a pretty nice cover.

Ok..it's just an effect that doesn't project well from a photo in that case. I guess that's cool.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

Does anyone know why the Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode, "Lamb to the Slaughter" is included here? I watching this thinking it may have some relationship to Psycho, but can find none. Except the obvious of course, but that could be said for any episode of the series.

Did they just throw a random episode on here or is there some reason for this?

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

It is Hitch's favorite episode, and one of the relatively few he directed
