Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
Finally bought Ant-Man last night. Spent more than I really wanted to but I got a copy complete with slipcover (originally from Best Buy) which is what I'd been looking for...

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
Picked up the restored edition of "An American Werewolf in London" ($9.99) along with the collector's edition of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (price-matched Amazon $15.99) at Best Buy. I also nabbed the "Warcraft" steelbook at Walmart for $22.99 (beautifully embossed with interior art—quite nice). I also ordered the "Hammer 8 Film Horror Collection" from Barnes & Noble for $31.82 with 20% off coupon ...not bad at less than $4 a movie. Just a side note: My Best Buy claimed "An American Werewolf in London" is not on the plan-o-gram, but I informed them that it is showing as "in stock" online. An associate walked in the back and discovered a stack that was not put on the shelf. Your store may have them even if not displayed. Just ask an associate that doesn't look bored-to-tears-with-existence and you might get lucky.
Geesh, I watched "An American Werewolf in London" last night and I simply do not understand the nit wits who post regularly at that Blu-ray website. I've never encountered a bigger group of malcontents in one place. I think some of them complain before they ever view the actual disc. The new version is stunning in comparison to the heavily grainy and edge-enhanced version we've had to endure for years. I flipped between both discs and the new version is a revelation. The older version is nearly unwatchable now. While it may look slightly soft at times, the detail in the "restored" version is still there and the grain, which was a major distraction previously, is finer but in no way scrubbed out completely. This is, hands down, the best this film has ever looked on home video. And I might add, for those who care about such things, the foil-like slipcover is gorgeous too—dare I say it is superior to the original poster art? I need to give props to Universal for hiring a competent artist for their cover-art on this title. If you are going to stray from the original one-sheet, hire someone who understands the subject matter and possesses real talent—beautiful job. Now I am debating whether to sell the steelbook edition or hold on to it. Decisions decisions...

Not sure how these slipped under the radar but previously LE were finally released for purchase. They were more than I usually spend especially on catalog titles, but both DVD's I have now were the original releases from the caveman days.

Okay, it appears there is a mini-sale going on at the Twilight Time website—NOT SAE. Some of the titles are in the 7 for $70 bundle deal over at SAE but you don't have to buy multiples to get a discounted price. I picked up "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" for just $14.95. Great movie with the legendary Sidney Poitier, Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn.

Best Buy had this up for a few minutes a couple of days ago. Must have found some on a pallet in the back of a warehouse somewhere. I sold off my original copy last year so I was glad to get a replacement.

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
Yeah, I was totally on the fence about buying it but I nabbed a copy via a marketplace seller at Barnes & Noble for about $96.00...I've yet to dive in to viewing it but very, very happy I decided to grab one. It is really well executed. My set came with the corrected copy of Halloween 4 (you can tell because the disc label is not black and lacks the Shout! Factory Logo. It was factory sealed. But 15 discs jam packed with extras, in a nice hard cardboard slipcover, original one-sheet cover art, a nice retrospective booklet for that price... a total steal. Now if could find some black elite cases to replace the ecos I would be totally happy.
