Coincidentally, that's exactly how I felt about the presentation too: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/42982/wolf-man-the/

I wish they would include a documentary about the long and arduous process of trying to get this to the screen along with all of the false starts, directors quitting, and script highjacking, not to mention how it flopped when it came out. Seriously, I would be very quick to purchase in this instance.

I think you have expectations beyond the ability of what an insecure Hollywood can provide on a recent production. Stuff like you describe here takes 10-15 years at least before anyone will go on camera and detail the behind the scenes scrambling that goes on with stars, directors, writers, studios, and productions. If you tried to make something like that today, everyone would be scared they'd impact their career or ability to work with someone later and it would end up as another EPK ass-kiss-fest with zero details.

Now in 10-15 years, you might get some real details as people retire, their career ends, erroneously think it is old enough to not worry about, or no longer care about their career.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the retailer exclusives for this title are? A steelbook was mentioned in the weekly upcoming purchases thread, but I can't find confirmation of it elsewhere.

In Canada, both the Future Shop and Best Buy flyers have their respective "Exclusive" advertised, but with no indication of what the exclusive actually is.

You know we have weekly threads that always list everything, right?

Bonus 2 disc DVD version at Best Buy, with behind-the-scenes footage and more.

Walmart exclusive - 10 music downloads, maybe more

Full details unknown on both at this time.

Thanks. BTW, there's nothing in the weekly release thread (or earlier in this thread, for that matter) that details the retailer exclusives for this title, which is why I asked.

Exclusive Content: Watch the first ever ONLINE STREAMING OF THE ORIGINAL 1941 WOLF MAN for a limited time only
Is this streaming in HD? I'm curious as to the quality vs. the DVD version. I had planned on waiting until the Horror Challenge to rent this, but if the original is in HD and has a limited window of availability, I may have to re-order my queue.

No problem, just making sure you knew our resources. And they are mentioned in both of the threads I was referring to, the weekly comparison threads, and the ongoing exclusive thread. I'm pretty sure that no major exclusive has gotten by those threads for over four years now.

Trevor has the best listing of all upcoming exclusives and weekly comparisons I know Also, the SteelBook you are referring to is the UK Blu-ray that's available at amazon.co.uk and hmv.co.uk.

It streams in SD, 2 channel sound 48 khz 255 kbps.

Doesn't look too bad maybe a tad soft but very watchable.

Re: The Wolfman (remake) - June 1st, 2010

My copy should be arriving from Amazon very soon. Despite my massive disappointment in the film, there's still a high production value and some suspense that makes it watchable. The first Del Toro as the wolf attack sequence is my favorite in the film, very well done. Very eager to see the cut footage and I hope it plays better as the theatrical cut is very choppy in terms of pacing.

My Walmart had it priced at $24.96, same as Target.

Picked it up at BB w/ fry's pm for $19.97. Like the new longer cut of the film w/ the added scenes in the first act of the film. Definitely should have been the released cut in theatres.

Thanks guys. I wasn't aware of the weekly exclusives thread. I guess it is not stickied?

I agree that the unrated cut of the film is solid. I haven't seen the theatrical cut, but from the unrated I would say the film is pretty good. Although, I did find that it ventured a little into The Island of Dr. Moreau cheese territory with the
Spoiler:
final act showdown between father and son wolfman.

No, I hate sticky threads, but they've been on page one of the bargains forum for years.

Ugh. Forgot Netflix has that lame 28 delay on Uni titles. Guess I'll have to watch this another way now. Just fucking wonderful.

Well that's a first! Most people just lurk in the bargain forums and never look at the others.

What's wrong with waiting 28 days? By all accounts we're not missing much.

Shouldn't have to wait because Universal feels they want to maximize retail sales when Blockbuster still has rentals on release date. This is Universal putting pressure on Netflix (and Redbox). I'll find other ways to watch the movie. Shame since this also means a lost sale from me as I'll be sure to buy used if I like it so they don't get the sale.

Yeah, the deals in Bargains are mostly US, so I never have much reason to venture in there since I'm in Canada.

Does anybody know if the Best Buy version comes with a bonus disc, or does the bonus only come with the SD version? Thanks

The Best Buy exclusive is only for the SD version. It contains the making of featurettes that do not require BD-Live or pocket Blu etc. All of that are already in the regular Blu-ray so no need to double dip unless you are collecting all the different versions of The Wolfman.

Gotcha, thanks for the info! I just know that BB sometimes bundles their SD bonus discs with both formats.

No problem! The regularly DVD had very slim pickings as far as extra features go so thus the Best Buy exclusive would have been recommended for anyone who isn't picking up the Blu-ray version and wanted to see the features.

I'm reading around the net that the bd may have an audio issue about an hour and a half in. I haven't had the chance to watch mine yet. Has anyone noticed this with theirs?
