I would seriously recommend trading it in. The issue may not show up for you given your current configuration, but if you switch players, receivers, TVs, etc., that could all change. There is absolutely no benefit to holding onto the current disc.

You may not even have to. Walmart has a great return policy.

Should I call them?

I'm just waiting until they get them in. Should be by the 18th. Since you get 30 days to start a return, it shouldn't be an issue. Once the item is in stock, I am assuming their return system will work like it usually does and let you do an exchange. Otherwise, I'll just email and explain the situation. They have always been easy on exchanges for me.

They normally won't let you return movies (or games or music) for a refund. It may help to have the printout so they know that he is exchanging it for the revised version and why.

Technicolor expects to have replacement discs available at retail no later than Tuesday, May 18.
Oh boy. I can just imagine going into my Beast Buy and trying to do this exchange: "Uuuuuh, what? Exchange? I haven't heard anything about it."

Did anyone try calling the phone # to set up the exchange?

uh, do you have to have the store receipt for the exchange? I don't think I can find it.

Where'd you buy it? Most places can look it up by shopper club number or credit card number.

And why would you toss a receipt so quickly?

^ I have no organizational skills whatsoever - a receipt gets puts somewhere and the likelihood of me refinding it - zilch... for the record I bought at Best Buy.

I shouldn't talk of course. I'm pretty good with organizing, but due to the sheer bulk of what I buy I often lose stuff.

Best Buy can look it up for you if you used a card of any kind, reward zone or credit/debit.

Maybe get a little box and put all receipts in it as you enter your house or find them? I sort of do that.

I usually just put the receipt inside the dvd/bluray case once i open it.

Who buys just one title at a time? ;)

Or are you the one who only eats one potato chip too?

Called them and the CSR took my info and said a return envelope would be mailed to me.

I read over at Blu-Ray forums that the new cover would have a yellow colored UPC on the fixed copies.

When I called today, the SPR exchange rep said anyone with the first issue can return it to where they purchased it for a replacement, no receipt required. Or give them your name and address and you will be sent a prepaid envelope to return it in.

Of course I don't know if the "no receipt" part is true or not, but it would save them money from having to pay shipping charges both ways. Retail stores must be getting plenty of extra copies for trade ins.

I got my copy from Amazon, but if stores will be accepting with no receipt, that's my route.

I called in expecting a sic to simply be sent to me, but I don't like the idea of giving mine up first. I'll try to exchange locally first.

Re: Saving Private Ryan --> May 4th

Supposedly Amazon is/will be emailing everyone who bought SPR from them with instructions on doing an exchange in the next few days.
