just got back from BB and it was nowhere near as easy as it should be. I go to the CS desk and speak with the clerk who then tells me that they can't search for my receipt as the system is "down" and I'll need to either come back later when it's up or take an instore credit which may or may not equal the amount of the disc. I say go for the credit and he says I now owe $10 for the corrected version as i purchased it for $19.99 and no the release day price of $29.99! Now, it's my fault for not having my receipt but charging me to replace a faulty disc because I bought in on sale is just bovine fecal matter! I ask what would happen if I waited for the system to come up or through some sheer streak of luck, come back with my receipt, He says, the result would be the same so, I of course said, I'm not paying an additional $10 to get what I should have received in the first place. He then goes on to tell me that the corrected disc is a different version of the film and, the conversation goes further down hill from there. After I correct him and another clerk comes from the rear of the CS area to confirm what I had been saying, the first clerk then, obviously flustered and seriously attitudinal, exchanges my faulty version for the corrected version with no additional fees assessed. I can only imagine what would have happened if I had actually opened and watched the film!

You know the thing that gets me is you can just sense many of these CS clerks have a mental orientation towards preventing what you want to happen.

When the CS supervisor who had to approve the price change on mine looked she seemed almost excited as she started to say "No see this is the standard, oh wait it's the Blu-ray" and then punched in the price difference she obviously didn't want to approve. I'm sure they deal with many people who are trying to cheat them, but when you have notice of a recall, STFU and exchange the disc.

As I have no clue as to where that is, they can look it up providing you present the card you bought the disc with. If you paid cash, I have no idea how this will pan out for you. In any event, I am on my way to BB to get the correct version.

If you have a RZ card they can look it up through that.

I didn't have any problems at my BB. Went to CS with the old disc and the new, explained that the old had been recalled and replaced with the yellow-stickered version. (I did have my receipt with me just in case.)

The $10 price difference/new SKU caused a raised eyebrow, but the clerk called over the supe just to get her authorization "code", and I was on my way all in one receipt.

I had no problems at all doing the exchange at my local Best Buy. I didn't have my receipt and I had also bought it at a different Best Buy location. Guess it just really depends on who you get to help you at the counter.

No problem swapping it out. BB said they had at least 20-30 people yesterday swap theirs out for the new discs. Theyonly had about 4 or 5 left on the shelf today w/ the yellow upc.

I would've been irritated had I been forced to make another trip to the store, but I have to hand it to Amazon - delivered to my doorstep and $5 off. Looks like it shipped today...

Thought I'd ask it here since it's audio synch related:

Anytime I pause a movie, the audio and picture get out of synch by a few seconds. I'm pretty new to blu ray, own a Sony BDP 460, and have it hooked up via HDMI. The problem happened twice while watching Tropic Thunder, and currently during Braveheart. Is it an HDMI issue? I just bought a cheap $5 via newegg. Or is it a player issue?

Thanks for any help

I had no problem exchanging my discs today at Best Buy. It helped a lot that I still had my receipt.

Ok looks like I'm gonna get SPR for $11.98!!
Now the story..
I pre-ordered from Amazon. they offered an exchange to fix the sync issue + $5 for the hastle.
I watched it once and did not notice the problem but I was not looking for it. I had the Amazon e-mail saved to do the exchange but forgot..
Well today they lowered the price to $16.99
So if you are a procrastinator like me do the exchange now!!

Not what was in the last multi disc release but the quality is so stellar it's a no-brainer double dip

thanks just wondering if i should keep my sd dvd

These days with 99% of the sd's being worthless, I usually say if you like the movie enough to upgrade then upgrade. Hang on to the SD if there is something special you need to keep. On second look, this is a 2 disc set so it probably has most everything. I had to look again since I had seen the extras previously I've never checked them out on the BR set.

Re: Saving Private Ryan --> May 4th

The BD has all the extras of the single and two-disc DVD releases, plus the feature-length documentary "Shooting War," about WWII combat photographers.

There was a four-disc DVD box set called "The WWII Collection" that included the two-disc DVD plus the "Shooting War" documentary and another documentary called "Price for Peace." That second documentary is the only item not included on the BD, but if you want it, it's available cheaply on the secondary market.
