The original Blu Ray is really good but since I paid 7 bucks for it, the extras here might intice me to double dip. I guess those extra scenes for the Director's Cut are gone forever, hence the scenes in SD.

Eh, the extras aren't enough to make me upgrade. I've got the 2 disc LE with the neat printed materials and the Divimax DVD.

I understand there's a DVD that has the true theatrical cut? Is that also the Bluray? Maybe I'll buy a special case and make them all into one mega set.

the current blu ray that MGM put out a few years ago is the original Theatrical cut

The Cabin Fever remake is coming to bluray from Scream Factory on July 5th. I know a lot of people thought it was pointless, but I thought there were enough things different about it that I will get it on bluray.

Keeping my eye on the F&G blu-ray set to see if it ever drops in price, and amazon has it now at a whopping 5% discount! Seriously, when did the deals at amazon dry up - is it due to their lack of competition?

Still doesn't look as great as the Arrow. Too bloody washed out and the encoding is tripe.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

A couple of new announcements:

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCE**

This Summer stay out of the showers! “Norman Bates” is back in PSYCHO IV, which is headed to the Blu-ray format on August 23rd.

A seemingly rehabilitated Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) is drawn to a late night radio show where the host (CCH Pounder) encourages him to share his views on the topic of matricide. Reliving his childhood, Norman recounts his trials of a young boy (Henry Thomas) living with his widowed schizophrenic mother (Olivia Hussey). These haunting memories are more than just disturbing visions of the past; they threaten to rekindle his killing urge in this spine-tingling thriller directed by Mick Garris (The Stand, Masters of Horror).

Extras are in progress and will be announced sometime later on in the early Summer time period. Pre-order now @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...-the-beginning

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCE**

Chiller TV’s acclaimed original series SLASHER will be arriving on both DVD & Blu-ray on July 12th. This thrilling first season– which recently concluded its run on-air this month - stars Katie McGrath (Jurassic World, Dracula, Merlin), Brandon Jay McLaren (Chicago Fire, Graceland, The Killing), Steve Byers (The Man in the High Castle, Alphas, Smallville), Dean McDermott (Ecstasy, CSI) and Wendy Crewson (Saving Hope, Revenge).

Synopsis: Thirty years ago, in the sleepy community of Waterbury, a killer known as "The Executioner" murdered Sarah Bennett's parents. Now Sarah (Katie McGrath) and her husband Dylan (Brandon Jay McLaren) have returned to town, only to find herself the centerpiece in a series of horrifying murders centered around the seven deadly sins. It seems "The Executioner" is back. But if Tom Winston - the original Executioner - is behind bars, who is the new person behind the mask? As the murders escalate, long-buried secrets are revealed, making everyone around Sarah a suspect…or a victim.

Both formats will include a behind-the-scenes featurette and extended episodes that feature scenes not seen on its original broadcast. For more information, check out the pre-order link @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/tv/horr...her-season-one

Psycho IV, if I'm not mistaken, was the Made for TV movie that aired on Showtime or USA years ago.

Slasher was an 8 episode series that just finished airing on the Chiller network. Chiller was not available in HD with any provider, so you had to watch it in SD.

Glad to finally get Psycho IV on BD, even if it's easily the weakest in the series.

Never watched Slasher; can't say I'm excited to, either.

Just read in a horror group I'm in on FB that someone connected with Child's Play (I forget who) had been, according to a conversation they had at some convention, recording a commentary for a Scream Factory blu-ray release. So... perhaps we can expect that in the future.

^ if anything i hope its for 2 & 3. The original is as good as it gets when it comes to extras and what not. As far as i know, most of the principle players and behind the scenes peeps are still alive

Well, I remembered who it was: the director of the first one, Tom Holland. So, while that doesn't rule out an eventual release of 2 and 3, it is the first that is being released by Shout. According to this poster, at least.

Another release. Was not even aware that this was getting another BD release

According to Shout's website, it looks like the Unrated extended cut is there. It says the running time is 89/91 minutes. It says the extras are still in progress.

Coming July 26th:

This is a must buy for me. One of Bronson's best.

Ugh. I'm conflicted. The one thing the Chucky box set is missing is special features for 2 & 3. But I don't like the idea of owning the complete box set and then 2 stand alone blu rays from the same franchise. I was happy when the box set was the definitive last word on the Chucky movies. Now the waters are getting murky.

This is known as the Mad Max conundrum.

Scream Factory has announced that it will bring to Blu-ray director Brad Anderson's chiller Session 9 (2001), starring David Caruso, Peter Mullan, Paul Guilfoyle, Josh Lucas, and Stephen Gevedon. The release will be available for purchase on August 16.

I LOVE this movie! Still creepy after so many viewings.

Definitely in for Psycho IV, it'd be nice if the Bates Motel TV movie was included as well. I'd also take the Van Sant film even if it's not as good.

I'm in for both, and they are most welcome and highly anticipated. SESSION 9 is very creepy, and is now a time capsule, for it was filmed at the now-defunct Danvers mental hospital...
