My erection is at half mast. That price is lame but THIS is what we've been waiting for for how long now?
I do hope that Scream/Shout license Ninth Configuration and Exorcist 3 (I'm aware WB is releasing it later on this year barebones) if Nightbreed on BD is any indication.

I have no interest in Nightbreed whatsoever, but I always love reading about stuff like this. As a movie fan it makes me happy that there are still people/companies out there willing to make the extra effort. I'm not surprised by the price. I think this is just going to be the reality when it comes to catalog titles going forward, especially special releases such as this when you consider all of the time and money that must have gone into the project.

I've never seen Nightbreed and I'm more interested in Cabal. The regular edition seems fine but I'm miffed about the extra bonus disc exclusive to the Limited Edition. I don't need a DVD copy of the movie. I'd rather have the extras!

$80 dollars?!, it's a good thing I'm no fan of Nightbreed because if I was...I'd still take 5 Criterion Blus over it any day.

That seems like an ambitious goal of 5000 units for the limited set, when a regular edition is also available. I'll probably bite the bullet and get the expensive limited edition.

I just ordered the Limited Edition. They put so much effort into getting this released. One of may favorite Barker stories and also the best Elfman score. Can't wait to watch it!

Yeah, $80 is a lot but if the quality and effort was made to put out an A+ release for one of my favorite obscure films I'd fork it over.
I've never seen Nightbreed so that's a bit much for a blind buy. I'll pick up the regular edition, though.

Ummmm... Guess he's never heard of Metropolis.

So, we're back in the niche market of criterion LD days now at an $80 price point for a special edition catalog title. I also think 5000 units is very optimistic.
I have no interest in NIGHTBREED but can appreciate and support those who do. For the love of catalog titles and getting our beloved movies out there in 1080p!

Everyone realizes that $80 on Scream's site means it'll probably be $60-70 on Amazon, right? I'm waiting for their price to go live before committing.

^ but you don't get the #'d edition (up to 1,000) or poster.
i kinda like the idea of having one or two LE Blu's that raise in value and/or go OOP, eventhough I plan on opening and watching and not keeping it like that...

Yes, you do. You'll just get something from 1001-5000. And I really couldn't care less about a poster.

I'm waiting too. Getting it two weeks early would be nice but it's not worth the extra money. I don't care about the poster or getting a low number.

I hope this is the beginning of a new trend for Shout Factory where they don't put the blue bar at the top of their slipcases.

Meh. Way to kill my enthusiasm for this project.
I'm curious about the directors cut, but I didn't find Nightbreed to be a particularly good movie. I watched a year or so ago on Encore or Starz or something, and it didn't hold up well at all. Looked like most of the budget was sunk into the creature make-up, and, apart from that, the movie felt like a cheap BBC production. The lead actor and actress, who played Boone and his perfunctory girlfriend, couldn't really carry the movie. On the plus side, this was probably the best cinematic representation of Clive Barker's literary sensibilities and I really liked Cronenberg in it.
But it's not worth $80 to me. I'll probably pick up the standard edition, though I'd rather that it be a 2-disc SE, and come with the bonus features disc from the LE and drop the useless DVD.

There has to be more fans than just 5,000. How about sell the LE for $40 and make 10,000 copies.
