Hoping Femme Fatale will go down in price eventually.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
Looked at my orders, and Femme Fatale went down to $22.99.

Wow! Was not expecting a Herzog vol. 2! The quality of the content is nowhere near volume 1, and there's some overlap with the BFI set, but I'll take what I can get. Signs of Life, in particular, has been out of print for years. And is that the proper English version of God's Angry Man? Amazing if true. That's a lot of old DVDs that I can clear out with this set. Hopefully the encoding on this one is better than vol. 1.

Finally, Fire in the Sky!

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
I've never been able to work up the nerve to watch Fire in the Sky.
How does it compare to something like Close Encounters of the Third Kind (which as been a favorite of mine since childhood) ? |
re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
Nice to see that Shout/Scream Factory are continuing with 4K releases. I may consider a blind buy of The Funhouse. It sounds interesting and I’m interested because of Tobe Hooper.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
I want to like The Funhouse more than I actually do, if that makes sense.
It's one of those movies I built up in my head to be far scarier than it is, partially due to the monster being on the cover of Fangoria magazine back in the day. That cover scared the shit out of me (keep in mind I was just 13 or so at the time), it's a publicity still of the creature. Unfortunately, the same monster in the movie just looks like a fake rubber mask. Here's the cover, spoilerized in case you want to be surprised: Spoiler:
I'm sure people who have seen the movie will agree that that is a far more terrifying photo than what you see in the movie. The one thing I do like about the movie though, is that it's very....dirty. Not as in smut, but the carnival scenes just look like one of those traveling shows that has been on the road for several years and the mileage shows. And lastly, none of the people in the movie are very likeable. Even the final girl, Amy (Elizabeth Berridge) is pretty snotty. All those elements should make for a great movie, but for some reason it just doesn't come together. I watch it every couple of years hoping it'll finally work for me, but I usually find myself getting bored until the final confrontation happens. |

Good to see Funhouse I guess but I was hoping the Fog would be coming out in June.

I know I watched Fire in the Sky on VHS but don’t remember much about the film. I know I didn’t hate it but I don’t think I was overly impressed by it too.

I figured some label would issue Fire In the Sky sooner or later after Imprint released it down in Australia.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
Worth mentioning that the 4K UHD of Dog Soldiers (2002) is struck from a 4K restoration of the original negative.
When Scream Factory released their initial Blu-Ray back in 2015, it was universally panned. I remember Director Neil Marshall stating that they were unable to track down the original negative. Crossing my fingers that I can finally upgrade my DVD copy! |
re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
Now if only they'd found a more compelling piece of cover art (not that DOG SOLDIERS has ever been graced with an ideal poster); I'm sensing inevitable comparisons to the infamous 'Three Wolf Moon' t-shirt. :)

Reissue of The Vincent Price Collection is available. Not something I’m interested in, but I know the set was out of print and fetching high prices.
Edit: I guess it’s been out for a while already. The Scream Factory Facebook page had a post, but I guess it’s just back in stock and not a new reissue. |
re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
I recently bought a copy of "The Lost Continent" (the Hammer film) and I just found out there was a replacement disc. Does anyone know the serial number or some other ID for the replacement disc so that I can see if I have the correct version. Usually these things are listed on some review sites, but I'm not finding anything.

There's a picture of the replacement on Reddit. Says "v2" in very small print on the disc's face.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
DiabolikDVD posted on their Twitter that their release date for the 4K UHD of Dog Soldiers is now TBD/TBA.
There's been talk that this is related to the Second Sight release of the film. |
re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
Shout Factory just announced a Blu-ray release (limited to 1,500 copies; only sold through their website) for the 1978 Dr. Strange TV movie.

I’m curious about it but probably not enough to buy it.
