The first Best Buy I checked on Tuesday had no copies left of The Hurt Locker on Blu-Ray (it looked like they dedicated 2 shelf spots to the BD, and one spot to the Steelbook -- I doubt they were filled to capacity though). They did have plenty of the DVD, however. I ended up getting one of the two BD copies left at Target.

And I checked BB online for Moon on Blu-Ray. None of the stores near me had it in stock, so I checked Borders on Thursday, where a few stores had it in stock. List price was 37.99(!!!). But I used the $10 off $30 coupon and $5 in Borders Bucks I saved, and I ended up getting it for $19 after taxes. The cashier couldn't get both discounts to work, so he got an override and it somehow applied the $5 off twice. He even told me I got a good deal!

Limited Store Exclusives normally are pulled of from various Bestbuy Stores. Its virtually available in the website but not physically.

What happens:

- The 15-21 backorder status is the ETA of time that Bestbuy.com's warehouse researching it from store who still has it in stock.
- Once found - first point of shipment would be from the store it was found to bestbuy return center then ship to the one who ordered it:

Sample packaging (it may vary) - check out the "Bestbuy Return Center"

So the dillemma here..

Yes, chances are you get what you order
Yes, its the steelbook
Yes, chances are you get a possible DENTED package (after numerous point of shipment)
LETS HOPE its properly and securely packaged

Oh:

Re: The Hurt Locker BD 12th Jan.

Anyone notice discolorations like a hazy, light ring around the inner ring on their copy? I have not played it yet. Could this affect the playability of the disc?

Yep, my copy has the ring as well. I didn't have any problems playing it either.

I'm confused. I got an e-mail saying my online order was cancelled, but then I got another e-mail a few hours later saying it was still on backorder. Plus, they had charged my debit account when I placed the order. That original charge has disappeared from my account, but I now have a pending debit for the same amount on the account. So, I don't know if they cancelled it or not. I don't suppose anyone here might have an extra copy of this Steelbook that they'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price? PM me if you do.

Re: The Hurt Locker BD 12th Jan.

I ordered on 1/14.

I got an e-mail first - early Wed morning saying backorder
Then around noon I got the cancellation e-mail and them trying offer me reg Hurt Locker BD for 10% off
I didn't get a 3rd e-mail, but I did check my account and it is still backordered.

I ordered the steelbook a day or two before release and received it with no problems. Still haven't taken the shrinkwrap off.

Re: The Hurt Locker BD 12th Jan.

The Hurt Locker got a nice bump on Amazon. The BD is the #1 seller on the BD list and it's out of stock. It's the #4 selling movie, just behind the DVD on their overall top 100.

Thanks to fellow Talkers, I picked the up as a blind buy on release day.

Had no idea it only did $20 Million at the box office.

As did The Blindside - can't wait to see all the disappointed faces of Netflix/Redbox customers told to wait 28 days.

I hope he added the extra zero by accident. But if not and it sells, I'll be upset that I just opened mine a few days ago.

Loved the film and would re-buy it eventually, but I could lose the collectible for $100+.

Now thats add up validity of a future rarity.

This release is Weird yet Admirable (in a different way)

1. First Summit released steelbook in North America
2. First Bluray with a dvd sized steelbook that has printed Bluray logo
3. The Movie is not bad, its actually good blindbuy movie
4. Steelbook collectors dislike it
5. Its superbly rare/limited in quantity

Only one of those should ever matter, and it's the only reason I bought it.

Ha Ha! The reason the price is so high is that he's looking for a plane ticket. It says in the auction it will be personally hand delivered.

What would be awesome is if it gets confiscated at the terminal due to it being made of metal.

Re: The Hurt Locker BD 12th Jan.

I can't shake the feeling that they will release a two disc version in time for Xmas with an almost identical steelbook package that won't be quite so limited.

If they do decide that, then I need to put my steelbook up for sale as well. Maybe I'll ask for only $1100.
