The Hurt Locker BD 12th Jan.

Coming to BD on 12th January. Comes with a commentary with director and writer. I wanted this to come with a commentary as Bigalow only done a partial commentary on the German Strange Days and she is great to listen to.

Art and details.

Quite nice artwork aswell.

This is a must for me as this was in my top 5 for the year.

groovy. Kinda don't like the bottom half. Kinda wished they either just used the upper half pic or that awesome pic of an over the characther shot with him and those bombs in his hand that he's pulling up.

Just saw this yesterday at my college movie theater, will definitely pick it up! One of the most well made, intense films I have seen in awhile.

Didn't love it, but a good movie that deserved to find its audience.

The bestbuy in westhollywood only had 2 steelbooks and 1 copy of it in regular packaging. i was shocked. Iam going to assume they just had not gotten in all of there stock. in anycase i picked up one of the steelbooks.

Tarantino stated in another thread, with visual evidence, that many stores would recieve only two copies.

I thought he was talking about MOON. Not hurt Locker and that it was at the stores in his neck of the woods.
Besides the West Hollywood is the most prominant Bestbuy in the L.A. area and usually stocks alot.
Moon by the way had 15 on the shelf in west hollywood.

Re: The Hurt Locker BD 12th Jan.

The Best Buy in Rockford, Ill., had no copies of either "The Hurt Locker" or "Moon" on Blu-ray when I went there at 4 p.m. They said they didn't get "Moon" at all, and only two each of "The Hurt Locker" in the regular packaging and Steelbook, They sold them all early and seem to be sick of trying to justify why the store doesn't have any copies of either title.

I ended up driving to Janesville, Wis., to snag the last "Hurt Locker" Steelbook they had. They had no copies of "Moon" on Blu-ray, and only one copy on DVD.

Does anyone else think it's odd that the "Hurt Locker" Steelbook is a regular DVD-size case rather than Blu-ray size?

Now thats add up validity of a future rarity.

This release is Weird yet Admirable (in a different way)

1. First Summit released steelbook in North America
2. First Bluray with a dvd sized steelbook that has printed Bluray logo
3. The Movie is not bad, its actually good blindbuy movie
4. Steelbook collectors dislike it (DVD size steelbook)
5. Its superbly rare/limited in quantity

Re: The Hurt Locker BD 12th Jan.

I suspect the main reason for the lack of discounting is that this is not a major studio release. Summit Entertainment is a smaller studio. They probably did not provide massive co-op that a Warner, Universal or Disney would have provided for a major release.

Review from blu-ray.com gives this an almost perfect score, save for the slightly light extras. PQ and AQ seem to be reference.

You can order the Steelbook online again, but it does say "Usually ships within 15-21 business days".
