It only works with mini-bullets.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Anyone elses bluray all messed up? I watched it last night, and some of the trailers only took up like 1/4th of the screen, top left corner. The movie played fine however, the subtitles seemed harder to read on the bluray especially in the beginning then they were in theaters

My only issue is that the Moon trailer isn't anamorphic like the rest of them on the previews.

A non-issue for me, as I've had the Moon blu-ray weeks before D9.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

well it's not a real issue..I just hate it when they'll do stuff like that. It's like a recurring minor annoyance.

It came out more than a month ago in the UK - the disc is all-region, has all the extras the US release is going to have and was less than $20 shipped. Kind of a no-brainer.

i noticed that as well. as i had already seen the trailers on the moon BD, i briefly became worried that the entire district 9 disc would be of a similar quality.

btw, as has been noted above, you can import the moon BD from amazon UK or cd-wow. it takes about a week to get here by standard shipping.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Glad I rented it. TV/video game quality writing and production values (apart from the CG). Not the A-quality film I was expecting.

Nice HD picture though.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Borrowed it last night from a friend and it was different alright. The first 15-20 minutes had me wondering what the heck.....but it comes around slowly and takes shape. the main character was well done although a bit ackward at times. Some parts of the movie seemed a bit out of place. Like if the Aliens had these powerful weapons they could only use, why did they live under those conditions. Not to mention their size and strength. Other than that a cgood story line and at best mininal use of special effects. I can see a District 10 possibly.

Fantastic Blind Buy for me. Better than some of the high profile shit that was released in 2009.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Ended up watching this on a blind buy. For the first part, it was enjoyable but was debating why I purchased this rather than rent first. By the end, I was happy that I purchased as this turned out to be a finely crafted movie. Really had me thinking this could be how it would really happen if this kind of scenario occured. Fine acting by Wickus.

I still think the guy that played Wikus should get nominated for his acting. I mean it was amazing. the transition of that character's development was just perfect.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Saw it in the theater and loved it. Picked it up last week but got the chance to watch it today. More and more blu's are looking better than when I see a film in a theater. I never really til I watched it again saw how much of a bigot that Wikus was and that he really didn't care til he was put into danger about what was going on.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Watched the BD the other day. It was my third time seeing the movie, but watching it on Blu was a great experience. The PQ was nearly flawless, one of the best-looking of this year. The AQ was equally impressive, great use of surrounds and directionality. Have;t watched the extras yet, but this is def one of the best BDs I own.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

This was my favorite movie of 2009. Am I the only one who's really bummed out that the extras don't include the the Alive in Joburg short? Sure you can watch it online, but it doesn't sit well with the completist in me. I just assumed it would be on there, but now I see the reviews mention its omission.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Yeah, kinda sad about it for sure. They mention it, and I'm sure some new fan of D9 will wonder wtf AiJ was? It would've been very cool to put it on the Blu.

Re: District 9 - 12/29/09

Tried to watch this on my LITE-ON internal Blu-Ray drive via PowerDVD 9 and the program told me there is "a disc with an unsupported format" in the drive. Anyone have this problem?

I can give it a shot when I get back home; I have a Lite-On Blu-ray drive and PowerDVD9 too. I'm away, but can test it out tomorrow or Sunday.
