Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are two of my favorites from the 90s. Although I may prefer Jackie Brown, I still think Pulp Fiction is truly a one of a kind masterpiece on every level of film-making. One of the first films that seriously opened my eyes to the world of cinema.

Why? That thread is about a deal between the Weinstein Company and Starz. Has nothing to do with the new owners of Miramax releasing Pulp Fiction through Lionsgate.

Fantastic. Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite films of all time; can't wait to FINALLY grab the Blu-Ray. Let's hope Jackie Brown gets a release soon, too.

All over Pulp Fiction and the Scream Trilogy.

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

I'd be interested in the Scream Trilogy, but it's not going to be a trilogy anymore, and that's going to annoy me.

No worries. It was amusing because I thought maybe I was missing something and kept going back and forth between the threads to find the link!

In case anyone's interested, there's a really long and really great Vanity Fair article about Weinstein, covering the past couple years.

Boo to that artwork. Ugly borders and words everywhere. But, I can't really complain; I'll be stoked just to have this on Blu.

That page has been there for something like a year, so I'd be shocked if that's how the cover will really look, assuming this even releases on 10/4.

I've always really liked this movie but never bought it in any form but for $10 I definitely will. On the other hand I've bought the VHS, Jpn LD, DVD and 2 Disc DVD of PF.

Wow, that's annoying. So, you can only get Jackie Brown at Wal-Mart? Sheesh, can I at least order it on Amazon?

Bad, bad, bad decision. I mean, who's going to be looking for Jackie Brown on blu-ray? I somehow don't believe Wal-Mart's typical customer is looking for, or in many cases has even heard of the film. I live in L.A., surrounded by Best Buy's and Frys, and honestly don't think I've ever seen a Wal-Mart in this area. What deal could Wal-Mart have given them to basically shut out 90% of consumers who would actually want this movie?

Order it from Walmart.com

I read something on The Digital Bits stating that Wal-mart may have jumped the gun on JB being exlcusive, and that more official announcements are coming shortly.

They're few and far between. Basically Van Nuys and the Inland Empire.

I don't know, that's what Gangs of New York and a few others look like, and it's a version of the art Miramax was using and now Lionsgate is using for the DVD.

I would love to see some commentaries for these. Why can't Tarantino team up with Edgar Wright like they did on Hot Fuzz and do a track for each film?

I don't think Tarantino's ever going to do a commentary on his own film. He should -- I think his excuse was once that he saw Pulp Fiction so many times at festival screenings he just couldn't bear to sit through it again, but it's been 17 years -- but I don't think he will.

Will the extras on this new BD be in HD, or just the same extras in lo-res ripped from the Special Ed DVD?

Both of these will be mine. Hope that's a nice slipcover on Pulp Fiction.

Depending on what they used....it might just be SD all the way for the oldie extras. The new ones better be in HD though...

Isn't the fact that they kept most (if not all) of the special features, and the fact that it will be in high def reason enough to upgrade, especially at this price?

daniel18 07-28-11 09:42 AM

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

Being HD is not enough for me to upgrade movies I already have, no matter how much I like them.

Kory 07-28-11 09:46 AM

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

That's dumb. ESPECIALLY given that they'll most likely be $10 each.
