Re: Star Wars Clone Wars Season 1 - Nov 3
I don't think ANY Warner TV on BD release yet has had lossless audio....the first season of Pushing Daisies claimed it would before it came out, and it was even printed in the specs on the back of the box, but then it turned out to be lossy DD only on the actual discs....
It sucks, but it is to be expected that it is what you get with Warner TV releases....I still bought it, as Amazon's $34.99 price was too good to pass up and I haven't kept up with the series on TV since I don't get Cartoon Network in HD with Fios.....

Just got mine from Amazon in the mail and the digibook is pretty but its so big. I would have preferred a tad smaller to match the size of a normal BD case but oh well. It sure is nice looking though and hope the rest of them come in the same type of digibook for future seasons.
I also noticed they lowered the price down to $32.99 at amazon and thankfully they refunded me my $2 difference even after it shipped.

Some nice screen comparrisons of the broadcast vs. BD release.

As others stated, there's no reason for a studio produced title like Clone Wars to not offer some sort of lossless track.
All it takes is a little extra effort.

amazon reimbursed me 2.00 for this so it wound up only costing me 32.99 instead of 34.99
Kind of glad now that they delayed shippment of this to me by a day, as i havent had a chance to watch it yet any ways.

Best Buy was sold out. They had sold through their original shipment of 12 by Wednesday.
Target didn't have any, but there was a place holder for it $36.99 on sale – Blu-ray.
Went to three Wal-Marts and finally found it at the third.
Target had it online for $29.99 (yes, blu-ray) as a pre-order. Not sure what the price is now.

Note: The episode "Hidden Enemy" technically takes place before all episodes including the Clone Wars movie however it was produced after the entire first season. Kind of a prequel episode.

No signs of it yet up in Canada. I've only been to Future Shop and Best Buy this week, and was surprised this wasn't in stock.
Future Shop had no sign of it at all, Best Buy at least had empty spots for the DVDs and Blu-rays, for what that's worth. They have it priced at $60 on their websites (not that it's in stock there, either).
I have to wonder, if 20th Century Fox had stuck with the franchise, would this release have been handled better and be getting a lot more attention? I think that it's highly likely. A new Star Wars release not being hyped at all seems rather odd.
Interesting aspect ratio. Is the first TV series, animated or otherwise, filmed with the scope ratio? Wonder why they didn't stick with the standard Television 16:9 format. Should make the series feel more theatrical in any case.

Im digging the hell out of this release so far. Much more than when i watch it on TV. Dont know if the 2.40 scope is making it feel more cinematic or just because of no commercials.

Cant believe the movie was in theatres for 91 days and made $68 mil worldwide. Didnt seem like it lasted in theatres more than a week or two.

To answer your question, you watch that one first but I'm assuming you can survive without it.
They showed it again in my area during the summer kids movie thing they do. The first time I watched it I was falling asleep. Second time it was somehow a lot better.

Is Jabba's drag queen uncle a major part of the series? If so, I'll pass.

There's certainly a mega-cool baddie they introduce at the end of season 1 people will want to stick around for.

Will just echo here the series was way better than the movie. Jar Jar episode was the only one I didn't watch all the way through. This is an easy Blu-ray purchase @ ~$35 IMO.

There's definitely no comparison between the 'theatrical movie' that came out and this show. I wanted to throat-punch everyone involved in that movie... but the series is actually pretty darn good. With some episodes being borderline excellent.
