Puzzles just aren't my thing. For as long as I've been following Criterion I have never been able to parse out a single clue.
And I still have never been able to get onto that mailing list.

Sign me up for Ghost World. Love Sixteen Candles and West Side Story but can't imagine needing to upgrade my Blu Rays of either.

Sixteen Candles seems like a film that falls way outside of Criterion's wheelhouse.

Ghost World has been a long time in coming.
It's been about three years since we first heard Criterion had it.
Reminds me of how long it took Red River to show up.

Thrilled about Ghost World, but how is anybody getting West Side Story out of that drawing?

My guess:
Two similar flags with musical notes around them.
Cuba (The Buena Vista Social Club) & Puerto Rico (West Side Story).

the only way for me to buy 'West Side Story' ... again... would be a 4K UHD edition, NOT a Criterion edition... well, unless there are more extras, and a mix that mirrors the 70mm 6-track sound design but not mixed as 7.1.

I assume if it is WSS, that Criterion is going to take the opportunity to correct the opening credits which rankled many fans by incorrectly introducing a fade out/fade in right before titles come up. I think there was another relatively small problem that I can't recall atm.
I never saw the film theatrically, so I don't see the flaws as problems. But there are many fans that do.
IIRC, WSS was also released by Criterion on LD so editorially at least any supplement package for it is more or less ready to go.

Someone be honest with me : is there any real reason to upgrade Seven Samurai from Criterion DVD to Blu Ray? It's a very old B& W film. I'm sure it looks better in Blu Ray, but is it a night & day sort of thing? I almost grabbed it at Costco for $20, but then I thought that my version was probably good enough for the one or two more times I'll watch it in my lifetime.

As I recall, the Blu-ray has the entire film on one disc, whereas the DVD is split between two discs.
Other than that...

Pretty night & day to me and worth $20.
