A woman in trouble? More like a director's career in trouble. This is not a movie that needs to re re-evaluated or redeemed. It's just uniformly awful.
Funny how that ultra-compressed trailer makes the "remastered" video look even worse than it did originally.

I know people who genuinely regard Inland Empire not as one of his absolute BEST but as good enough to see some value in watching (and rewatching, from time to time) it.
I'm intrigued enough to want to give it another shot, as it's been a couple years for me at least. Doesn't look like it's playing in Houston anytime soon, so I'll probably just wait for the inevitable disc.

I've never seen it. Maybe if it comes to streaming some day.

I remember being so excited when Inland Empire came out. I wasn't able to see it in a theater, but I bought the DVD as soon as it was released. I tried watching it once, made it about a half hour in before falling asleep. I woke up to a bunch of prostitutes singing the Locomotion, shut it off and never returned to it. The DVD is still sitting on my shelf 15ish years later.

And, dammit, I even kind of like Lost Highway.
But somewhere between Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire, Lynch really lost the program. And Twin Peaks The Return is just a garbled mess, too,

Another quiet month for me.
Maybe grab Okja down the road if it reviews well.

I find it funny that people have been saying for years that Criterion is going to be releasing Scorsese's After Hours, only for them to actually release Age of Innocence, The Irishman, the Shorts collection, and now Raging Bull. I think that After Hours will get a Warner Archive release and the next Scorsese Criterion release will be Bringing Out the Dead.

I'm super-exited for Summertime and Drive My Car, and I'll probably pick up the others eventually. This is one of the few months in recent memory where every title interests me.

Devil in a Blue Dress is an awesome movie. Jennifer Beals looks amazing in it. I don’t have it on any form of disc, so I’ll probably look for that. I only have Raging Bull on DVD, so that’s a no brainer upgrade.
