When is the last time Criterion had a site-wide sale? It seems they are due.

For me, December has often been a pretty ho-hum month for Criterion. Not this year!

According to Criterion's site, Chungking Express has gone out of print.

I know they did when a bunch of the Studio Canal titles all went OOP together, but I know some titles go OOP quietly, too. Pygmalion is one I know that went quietly OOP some time ago (although they've said that they will eventually revisit it).

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
At least I have this thread to keep me up-to-date. I've said I'd try to avoid another Third Man/Man Who Fell situation and get them as they go OOP, although I have a feeling this one might be more of a Pierrot Le Fou.

Criterion flash sale.
For only twenty-four hours, until noon tomorrow, all in-stock Blu-rays and DVDs will be 50% off the suggested retail price (SRP). Just enter the promotional code FLASH on your shopping cart page at Criterion.com to apply the discount. If you need some help deciding what to buy (and have two and a half minutes), check out this video. The code expires at noon tomorrow, so don’t delay! |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Too bad it doesn't work on pre-orders - I'd probably order 9 or 10 things if it did.
As it is, I'll probably get Rosetta, Le Havre, and one or two others. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
It doesn't release until tomorrow, but the code is already working on Eating Raoul.
I just placed an order for Down By Law, Eating Raoul, and The Game. Total = $59.91 This is my first time placing an order on Criterion's site. What kind of wait should I expect with their stand shipping? |

Not exactly sure but I think the delivery is supposed to be a speedy one. I know they overcharge like crazy to ship to Canada so I think I'll have to pass this time around.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
For anyone else who did the Carlos replacement and didn't get their $10 gift certificate: I emailed Mulvaney this morning and let him know that I received my replacement disc but no gift cert and got a prompt reply from him about being backed up but they would email it to me. Less than an hour later and I got the email so I was able to use the $10 off cert with this sale.

Lame, can't order The Game because it's backordered.

Oh well. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I went with Eating Raoul, La Promesse and Tiny Furniture.
I was never a big fan of The Game, although I'm considering revisiting it. If I enjoy it enough, I'm sure I won't have a problem waiting for a B&N sale... |

I emailed Jon 2-3 weeks ago because the replacement disc for Carlos that was mailed on August 15th never turned up. I never heard back. Following your post I emailed him again just to let him know that I had placed an order during the sale so a new replacement disc could be placed in it, and I haven't heard back either.
Hopefully it just turns up with my order. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I just find it odd because the very first time I wrote him, I got a response in a matter of hours. On Thanksgiving night, no less...

Pretty bummed I didn't get e-mailed saying I was the first 10 to order the Harold and Maude, I was sitting on Facebook when they posted it, ordered my copy immediately, all within a minute and nothing; except an extra copy of Harold and Maude and a $5.90 shipping cost. Yikes.

LAMB with Liam Neeson? It takes place in a reform school, and those smoking lambs look like delinquents to me!

Kit also keeps his cigarette pack rolled up in his sleeve. I'm sure it's Badlands. One of my all-time favorites, so I'm pleased to finally get confirmation.

If it is indeed Badlands, that will give us Rosemarry's Baby, Weekend and Badlands all in a short period of time, three of my all time favorites. Very happy right now.
