just got the BBS set from amazon...holy shit..this is a nice set. I'm intimidated by how much I have here in my hands.

I recommend watching the films in order. I jumped ahead and watched Easy Rider first but then watched them all in order. I think the set is one of the best released.

I'm watching Fish Tank right now (both came today), love Fassbender's work. I'll get into BBS soon though...When I opened it I was just...wowed by how heavy the fucker is. It feels...important that's for sure. I'm sure my mates from class will want to see them as well.

Trying to get things back on topic, Criterion posted this Cul De Sac art hint on Facebook:
So that's Orphee, Cul De Sac and Jean Vigo for August so far. Announcement to come on Monday.

Got Blow Out today...man, I love it....easily has become my favorite De Palma film. I'd never seen the film before but once I saw the CC promo for it...I wanted it.
The only De Palma films I'd seen before were Carrie, Scarface, The Untouchables, and Carlito's Way. Carrie and Carlito's Way (though it does have some cheese aspects at times) hold strong for me, Scarface little by little doesn't hold up for me, while TU takes big leaps down each time I watch it. I think TU bothers me narrative wise...it's a bit too cheesy for me. Well shot and great music...just the story and dialogue bothers me more every damn time.

hrm...on the interview w/ BDP on Blow Out there is a special Thanks to Travolta among others. Why Travolta? He wasn't involved w/ anything on this DVD/BD...so why the thanks? Would've liked to see an interview w/ him as well. the interview w/ Nancy Allen was good, one thing bothered me...she hasn't aged that well in comparison to other actresses I remember from that time.

This and The BBC set are probably my favorite Criterion releases, inclusive of laserdisc and DVD.

I think this might be my favorite DePalma film as well. It's weird that from your list I've only seen The Untouchables. I've also seen Sisters, Dressed to Kill, Snake Eyes, Mission Impossible, The Black Dahlia. Black Dahlia and Snake Eyes were pretty bad. I liked Dressed to Kill but didn't care for the ending. I remember liking Sisters, MI, and The Untouchables but haven't watched it a second time.
Anyway I saw that Cul De Sac is also available via streaming on Netflix.

I saw it last week after exchanging a copy at Barnes and Noble(original blu ray box/holder was defective and couldn't close). I have to say I enjoyed it a whole lot better than when I saw it last year. I think it's the BD upgrade that makes Philly look a lot better than the old dvd. I think I was more engaged this time around. It didn't hurt that Karen Allen annoyed me a lot less this time around. Gotta give props to Dennis Franz who plays the sleazy photographer with east coast accent quite well. The ending is quite powerful as well.

Nancy Allen was Lois from RoboCop...and was also in Blow Out.
Well after going into the features and whatnot...I really want to check out BDP's earlier stuff. Dressed to Kill is one that has really got my attention.

....If CC did PF....I think it would heavily take me off guard but I'd be there immediately just wondering wtf CC could get for it.
