Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

Coming out of Comic Con...

One of the items Fox will have available for pre-order at their Comic Con booth (besides the Alien Anthology Egg Statue set, Dollhouse Season Two, etc), will be the Family Guy Trilogy on DVD and BD -- which will likely be Blue Harvest (new to BD), Something, Something, Something Darkside and the forthcoming We've Got a Bad Feeling About This.

Since Fox is only taking pre-orders, the set will likely be coming this winter.

Is there any advantage to preordering at SDCC, or is it just an empty promotional thing?

I think it's just a promo to drive interest in the booth -- order it here first type of thing -- the BD pre-order price for Family Guy is $39.99, which is not so hot IMO.

Last year they had the "Complete" Futurama DVD set in Bender's head for order and it was numbered or some nonsense. It later showed up at retail and will even be available at the Fox booth again this year.

So if I pre-order, does it ship directly from Fox?

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

Upcoming DC Direct title:

DC Showcase Volume One complies all the shorts from previous DC Direct titles, like The Spectre (from Justice League: Crisis on Two Worlds), Green Arrow (from Superman/Batman: Apocalypse), Jonah Hex (from Batman: Under The Red Hood) and an all-new 22 minute short Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam

No release date has been given; could be the holiday season, could be early 2011

Fox now says the third Family Guy-Star Wars special will be called It's A Trap... still expected about the same time Something, Something, Something Dark Side came out last year: mid-December.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

Well, October was already nuts and with the Fockers movies still rumored, but now it's become officially insane for me with Secretary, High Tension, and Hard Cardy coming out on 10/5.

Some months seem slow, some seem kind of rough, but last year and this year it really does seem like 1 month tends to really stick out and it looks like October will be that month this year for me.

Obviously, the Alien and BTTF sets have a lot to do with that.

edited to add: Crikey, now Splice is coming out on 10/5 too. I'm at around $225 for the month with Meet the Parents, Fockers, and Moulin Rouge still possible to be announced.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

^ Just an FYI, it's part of halloween-timed MGM/Fox wave of so-so releases including:

• The Amityville Horror (2005)
• Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

And repacks of Child's Play, Carrie, Misery, Silence of the Lambs and Species. (Don't expect new discs, should just be combo releases.)

One of my favorites. A two pack would have been nice with Part II included.

Part II with the corrected soundtrack would be even more icing on the cake.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Excellent! One of the few (only?) cases in which an excellent original is actually improved upon by the remake.
