Hey it is the directors cut
I like the Mel Brooks stuff. I'm sure I'll finally toss the old DVD-r and get the BD of Men in Tights. I liked Cocoon and saw it in the theaters however I still have my unopened DVD from several years ago and I have a tough time justifying an upgrade to a movie I haven't bothered opening.

Fangoria actually got a scoop online!
Oh yea, and that's cool news about ED, too. I hope it's not a stripped-down disc like all their recent efforts have been.

i wonder if we'll get a 1.33:1 or a 1.85:1 transfer of EVIL DEAD. hopefully it'll be a port of the ultimate edition and we'll get both.

Now if they would only get around to releasing halloween 4 and 5 this year. then we would only be waiting on Universal to release Halloween 2,(left Halloween III out on purpose) since Alliance released that 3 movie bluray disc for the the Dimeson Halloween movies last month.

Blu-ray.com:
Independent studio The Weinstein Company, which is in the middle of a restructuring process, has finalized a new home video distribution deal with the worldwide acquisitions unit of Sony Pictures, according to which TWC and Dimension titles will release through Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The Sony deal is envisioned as long-term, in batches of 9 to 10 films.
The first movies under this arrangement are Rob Marshall's Nine, A Single Man, The Road, Youth in Revolt, Halloween, Piranha 3-D, Nowhere Boy, Hoodwinked 2 and Blue Valentine. However, note that not all of these titles will necessarily get a high-definition release.
Weinstein content used to be distributed by Genius Products, of which TWC was the majority shareholder. The home entertainment distribution operations of Genius were sold to Vivendi Entertainment in September 2009. Afterwards, Weinstein property has been released by different distributors: Quentin Tarantino Inglourious Basterds was released on DVD and Blu-ray by Universal, and Rob Zombie's Halloween II, by Sony.
In related news, Outlander (a TWC title released on DVD in 2009 with no accompanying Blu-ray edition) will finally hit Blu-ray Stateside on May 18, released by Vivendi.

Anything on my list has been a day 1 purchase but if it's coming in time for Christmas I'll put it on my list and let the family get it for me. Really looking forward to this one.

And count me as another (the other?) member of this forum to see it as a kid ("tween", in my case) in '65. I'd also seen a production of the play a few years earlier. Big Julie Andrews fan here...

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
IMDB didn't say anything about subsequent releases. The first release was 1965. It was that and Mary Poppins that were the first movies I can remember going to as a kid. I know it had been televised annually on network TV for many years. Not quite a big event like the Wizard of Oz, but one of the networks would have it on TV on a Sunday night. I wouldn't be able to watch the whole thing because it would have been on until 11:00 on a Sunday night.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
I'd consider this very rumor-worthy, but I read on the Blu-ray.com forums that Darkman and Flash Gordon are coming from Uni on 6/15.
