http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/news..._on_Track/2862 I wish that they would have negotiated for Criterion's extras from the long-OOP DVD release releases, but I think the only company who has been successful at doing so is Anchor Bay. |
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III

Those specs appear to be good news for the most part... it seems that everything from the MGM release of the film is being 'ported over as well as some new things being added, like the Live Earth performance of Stonehenge.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
I mentioned Anchor Bay because them getting the Criterion commentary with John Carpenter for a release of Halloween was the main case I could think of, as for *years* Criterion was notorious for not licensing their extras.
They still never put such a deal in place with MGM, though, which is why none of the extras from Robocop, Silence Of The Lambs, or Sid And Nancy, amongst others, were ported over to them. |

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
I think the Civil War series by Ken Burns was one of the best documentaries ever made. Certainly a sterling addition to my collection. I wonder how that would look in HD and if that is in the works?

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
There might be some reluctance now to release 1.33:1 material. We haven't seen much other than classic films. They may want to wait until people get more accustomed to pillarboxing.
Then again, maybe they can do like Disney did with Pinocchio and have decorative artwork. Perhaps they can put the Union and Confederate flags on each side? ;) |

Friday, Set it Off, Menance II Society on September 8
Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring three "urban titles" to Blu-ray on September 8th, including 'Friday: Deluxe Edition', 'Set It Off: Deluxe Edition', and 'Menace II Society: Deluxe Edition'. All three titles will be presented in 1080p AVC with 'Friday' receiving a newly remixed 7.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack, and the other two receiving 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks. blu-ray.com |
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
^ I would assume the Menace II Society bluray is the unrated cut (that was released as such on laserdisc from Criterion).

Will definitely grab Menace II Society especially if it's the longer cut, and Friday, cause, you know, it's Friday, ya ain't got no job, ya ain't got no money...and you ain't got shit to do!

Once the posts go past 1000, it's supposed to be closed. And this one is up to 56 pages.
