Cliffhanger and Last Action Hero
9 (assuming it's the LittleBigPlanet rip-off and not one of the other 14 9's) should look glorious in HD.

I wonder why Weeds S5 is being released in January. Usually it comes out in the summer so it's closer to the upcoming season. Showtime has announced a 6th season.

If the DTV sells maybe they will bring the Trilogy to BD sometime in the next ten years. Universal really does not give a shit about catalog.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
which sucks considering how many catalog titles they gave us on hd dvd.
really hope 2010 things pick back up in the catalog releases. cross fingers that black friday and holiday season 2009 will see a exponential increase of bluray in homes to help faciltate all studios getting out more catalog stuff.

I was seriously hoping on Universal cashing in on the release of "The Lovely Bones" by offering up "The Frighteners" on blu. Both do concern the afterlife...

I'm not sure there's much to cash in on. Most people probably wouldn't even recognize "The Frighteners" if you were to mention it to them. What's more, "The Lovely Bones" probably won't even be that big of a movie. It would be like releasing "Earth Girls Are Easy" at the same time as "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". But, I'm not a marketing guru, so what the hell do I know?

^Dude, The Lovely Bones is going to be HUGE. That book alone has a huge following, add in Peter Jackson to the mix and you've got the fanboys too. Huge hit.

Which is why I'll believe it when I see it. Not shooting the messenger. Just tired of these two titles getting yanked back and forth. Cate's next movie is "Robin Hood" and that isn't released until May '10.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
Blame Universal. The two films likely won't sell that well so their not in a rush to release them with no obvious tie-in. Universal knows (like other studios) catalogs just don't sell very well unless their low-priced or 'big' titles. They will wait for even the slightest chance of a tie-in to hopefully move a couple hundred extra copies. It can also be used towards retailers to give them a discount on buying movies with a tie-in they can show in stores ("Buy 30,000 copies of movie x and we will give you a 20% discount on movie y"). Elizabeths are 'done' so they will come eventually. When...who knows.

I saw on blu-ray.com that it's coming out in Europe in March of next year IIRC. Hopefully a North American release will come out around the same time.
