Looking at the review here, it looks very nice. I could replace my Oppo region-free and my craptacular Sony BDP-S300. Looks like the load times are noticeably faster.

At $350 it's a bit much but my next purchase will be a BD/DVD player that plays all letter/number regions. If only it played HD DVD too.

LG BH200 does all that you want. Region free DVD, Region free Blu-ray, Region free HD DVD and does PAL.

BH200's can be had for $200-$250 depending where you get it from. I've seen some go for sub $300 recently on eBay.

A new BH200 can be expensive (if you can find one), and buying used on eBay can be iffy, given the technology involved.

I've purchased about 6 BH200's, 3 new, 3 open boxed - all been perfect. No remote - call LG they will send you one for free (they use the same ones on their 100/200/300 units).

6! now let's try to know why?

A) you keep them because one will break and you'll use parts from another one
B) if it breaks you just go pick another one up
C) You got way to many TVs in your house
D) you're stacking them to do a fort to play with kids
E) you buy low and sell high

just kidding, maybe you're right, maybe I should just get over my fear of getting screwed and get one if a good deal presents itself

Re: 1st 100% Region Free Blu-Ray Player

I was going to hunt down a BH200, but ultimately I didn't feel good about tying a potentially expensive import catalog to a brand I am not very fond of. If the player goes and craps itself, I'm stuck with a bunch of discs I can't play. I wish I could get my hands on a UK PS3 but I'm not sure how to do that other than having someone in the UK ship me one. And there I don't if there are power conversion issues, etc.

They were very cheap. With a $75 rebate LG was offering I nabbed a few for about $70. I've sold most of them at this point. Didn't need 6 players

Why not grab a modded BD player? They have some decent Panasonics pre-modded.

Yup, that one is still my choice. Player is holding up great.
