funny hearing Scorsese talk about how's going to play Van Gough in AK's Dreams. The very coming future for him...the past for us.
EDIT: There's no way in hell this is from 1986. Scorsese mentions Burton's Batman...so...after some searching. Seems like this commentary is from 1990. Any confirmation on that date?

After plunking down upwards of $100 for Criterion Laserdiscs back in the day, I have no problem with high def releases for under $20. Need to listen to the commentary now.

Damn good BD. I enjoyed the Commentary. Can't wait to jump back into all the features again. The more Scorsese we get on BD the better. Also...if his less loved films could also get some appreciation on BD too.

With the Echo Bridge/Miramax fiasco going on now, it's good to hear that a great film has received a worthy release.
Good job, Sony!

I've waited endlessly for a decent DVD version of "The Color of Money." Here's hoping it will come to Blu-ray soon.

Been to Frys in Burbank, a couple of Targets, and two different Best Buys here in L.A. and simply CANNOT find a copy of Taxi Driver anywhere. Don't they realize they're losing money by not having enough copies of such an obviously popular release in stock?

Losing money for now, but the demand is still there for when more hit the shelves. Finally got a chance to watch it, fantastic picture. I'm in the minority, but I absolutely hate tha packaging. It's a sort of digipak? I'm not a fan of those either, but at least those had booklets with good notes and whatnot. Not sure what the hell to do with postcards. Not liking the odd size of it either. Thank goodness the content more than makes up for the packaging.

Watched it last night, fantastic quality... I felt like I was actually in the campaign office with how good it looked.
Also not crazy about the packaging... mostly due to the size difference. I do like the feel and heft of it though. Still don't quit get the marketing mentality for these different cases...are they really going to sell more copies because it comes with postcards? Lol, I don't think I'm even opening mine.

Glad to know this is apparently selling pretty well. Releases like this just excite me to no end. Classic catalog done right on BD...I love it.

Still though, I'm a packaging junkie & like that they did something different.

I love the quality of the blu, not only is it loaded, its done right. The packaging is cool for me, I wish they wouldn't have kept it closer to normal blu case size so it doesn't stick out so much but its definitely a quality package. I opened my postcards in a way that I could slip them back into the plastic wrap so they don't go flying every time I open the case.

Just finished spinning it... Fantastic.
One of my personal top 10 has never looked better...
I stuck the paper thingy from the back in the pouch with the (opened) cards... Just enough cushion so that they don't slide out.

My only complaint was the stupid security tag stuck right on the inside of the package. Luckily I got mine off alright, only tearing off the smallest speck of the artwork.

Speaking to the choir here but watched it with the Criterion commentary earlier this evening. The picture quality is fantastic, and I really liked the presentation/packaging.

Wow. What a fantastic release. The transfer looks awesome.
The package, well, what can I say? This is exactly what I was arguing for in the Barry Lyndon thread. This is how important movies should be packaged. The beautiful part is getting the price down to $12.99.

Really? When he looks at those pimps in the diner? And then he's watching TV with the the interracial couple on American Bandstand and knocks his TV over? I wonder why Scorsese didn't make Iris' pimp black? Does he say in the commentary? Maybe I should listen to a commentary once.
