If you're in Berlin next month:
This should look phenomenal. I'm tempted to just pre-order it now. The way DD has been with their last few sales, it might not be worth waiting until July.
In February, the Berlin Film Festival will screen a 4K digital restoration of Martin Scorsese's cult film Taxi Driver. Writer and director Paul Schrader, who wrote the screenplay for the movie, will present the restored version at the world premiere in Berlin together with Grover Crisp, senior VP for restoration and mastering of Sony Pictures. A Blu-ray release has not been formally announced yet, although a German release is slated for April.
During restoration, the original 35mm negative was scanned at 4K resolution. Grover Crisp managed all facets of the digital restoration of this Columbia Pictures release. A Barco projector will make it possible to show the film in 4K quality.

I have this recorded on my DVR. I believe it was HDNet that aired it last week. I watched part of it last night and it looked pretty good, but I'll happily replace it with the new BD once it arrives. Are we certain this will be a digibook? The list price is only $24.95. That seems low for that kind of release. I believe the last real digibook from Sony was Easy Rider, which came out in October 2009.

This link has artwork. Not sure if that's final or not.

Keep an eye on your order in the next day or two, you'll see. That's why there's never any reason to NOT preorder from amazon.com, especially with their easy cancelations process.

No they'll automatically lower the price on your order. You're guaranteed the lowest price until the end of street date and the only time they actually refund you is if it ships early, like if they charge you $12 when they ship something out the Friday before street date and then on Tuesday it drops down to $10, they'll refund you the $2.

Per Blu-ray.com, Sony licensed the Martin Scorsese and Paul Schrader commentary from the old Criterion Collection Laser Disc! Very exciting news.

That's kinda weird that they credit Criterion for the laserdisc on the back. Not that it isn't deserved or appropriate, I just don't think it was done on other cases where their supplements wound up on non-Criterion discs. I wonder if Criterion insisted on that as part of the licensing agreement.
