I bought Rogue during my lunch hour. The packaging says 1080p but I'll post later tonight to confirm.

It's too bad Cursed is the theatrical cut... I have the Unrated version and don't see how it would be an upgrade to lose some of the movie. However, having said that, I have never seen the theatrical cut. Anyone know what the differences are?

According to IMDB the Unrated cut is 2 minutes longer.

Read this review:

Seems to spell out exactly whats different and numerous issues the film had. Its been years since I've seen it, and to be honest, I remember not liking it, but meh, I'll give it another go. The only reason we are even getting it is because Williamson has the hit "Vampire Diaries" and Joshua Jackson in "Fringe".

I ordered The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. I'll give an update on whether it's 1080p or 1080i. I also ordered The Faculty, and am dissapointed that it may be 1080i... but I suppose it is still an upgrade over that non-anamorphic release (and it's a favorite of mine).

If you decide you don't like it enough to own maybe I'll buy it from you (if your willing). Not sure yet if I need the theatrical cut though, but I guess the differences are really minor. I definitely dug the movie though I know it's far from perfect. It was entertaining for me.

I've been clutching onto my shitty Faculty DVD for a decade now so even a 1080i BD will be good enough for now. It's a gamble, but I just don't see this ever coming out 'officially' on Blu-ray anytime in the near future. $18 vs waiting 1-5 years is well worth it.

As for Cursed, I'll let you know.

I just checked my disc and it is 1080i. The movie looks stunning though. The outback setting is beautiful.

Agreed on The Faculty, though I've only owned the Faculty DVD for three years. It's a favorite of mine for sure so I had to order it. I really don't see it being rushed to Blu-ray in the U.S.

Did the same last night despite the recent news of it being 1080i. There were always rumors of direct-to-video sequels and a DVD re-release; but nothing ever happened. I'm fine with a 1080i release for $17 compared to the same price I paid ten years ago for a bare bones non-anamorphic DVD. I don't see BV getting ready to release this anytime soon.

I would have gladly paid $17 for an Anamorphic DVD from 2000-2008, so the same price for a Blu-ray is worth it. Shame we won't get to see any of the cut scenes/characters as this film has some major changes (oddly enough, just like Cursed). DTV Sequels could have been decent fodder to. Pulse had them, why not The Faculty?

Yeah, entire characters and subplots completely removed from the final cut of the film. Would love to see them one day. They have to be in somewhat decent shape considering some of them were used for the film's advertising material.

There were rumors circulating around in the early 2000's when Dimension was running high on DTV sequels for From Dusk Till Dawn, Children of the Corn and Hellraiser that The Faculty would be next up; but nothing materialized. It's also to note that Dimension stopped producing DTV sequels for a few years at that point and didn't start back up until after 2005.

Has any seen the Canadian release of Gosford Park?
Was it ever released?

Its one of my favorite films and assume its a 1080i60 transfer, but surely much better than the R1 DVD?

Anyone know? anyone seen it?

I have not seen it personally, but the information I have read says it is an awful transfer that looks little better than dvd.

Looks like the disc for cursed sucks, since it's 1.78:1 as opposed to the original 2.35:1. Plus its only the already-mentioned theatrical cut.

It seems as if Trailer Park Boys - Countdown to Liquor Day is slated for December 29th. I'm in the states, so I'll need to find a place to buy it from that will ship it here.

Sigh. Yeah, my copy should be here today. Wonder if its cropped or they opened it up. Can anyone locate some screenshots from the DVD so I could compare?

Picked-up Brothers Bloom last week at WM. It was around C$22. Have yet to watch it. It's not Alliance AFAIK, but 'E1 Entertainment' who also did some previous BR releases.

Re: Canadian Blu-ray Releases - Complete List and Discussion

Watched "The Return" tonight with Buffy herself.

Specs: 1080p. 2.35:1 (same OAR as the DVD). 1h 26 min runtime. English 5.1 DTS HD MA, French 5.1 DD, Spanish 5.1 DD. Price: $C19.99 or less.

As with most Alliance BRs, this has no menu, extras or subtitles.

Disk Review:

Video: For a 2006 movie, the PQ is really good. Blacks are black, great detail. Dingy scenes look great, and the scenery looks fantastic. There were a couple of wonky mirror FX shots, but nothing atrocious (maybe budget or artistic intent?). Rating: 4.5.

Audio: the DTS MA track sounds great. Don't have a full setup running, but there were no complaints from me. Loved the score in this one. Rating: 4.5.

Extras: Zilch. Loses the multiple extras that were on the DVD.

Story: I personally think this may be Gellar's best movie. She carries the whole thing quite well. The movie is hard to describe in one sentence, but it's not "The Ring". IMDB it. No gore, some blood, a few scares, some stalking... more like an interesting take on the usual formulaic Drama. Like I said earlier, loved the score. Rating: 4.0

Summary: Seems like this is one of Alliance's best efforts to date. Definitely Recommended.

I thought the movie was okay. The best thing about it was definitely it's score by Dario Marianelli followed by Gellar's performance. The story/direction was just okay, but still pretty good overall. I'd buy this when it hits $10. Thanks for the update!

Anyone know if "The Tournament" is a Canadian exclusive ??

http://www.amazon.com/Tournament-Blu...6733913&sr=8-2

Yet I was able to order it from amazon.ca:
