Anyone own this disc ?? If so, how is it ?? I can't a review for it anywhere online.
It is a Canadian exclusive, but no extras or subtitles are listed. The amazon.com listing is an import of the cdn disc.

Saw it at FS. It seemed like the usual Alliance work: 1080p and DTS-MA printed on the packaging, but something you can't confirm until someone watches it.

Re: Canadian Blu-ray Releases - Complete List and Discussion

Was someone here asking about Flashpoint S1? Finally saw a copy at Future Shop (C$52.99) today. Looks like a good job was done on the set based on the back cover: 1080p, DTS MA, Region A. 560 mins runtime (it might've been 580 as the font was blue on blue, so hard to read). Back also mentions a few extras and a commentary.

Nice. I was wondering when Alliance would get around to releasing Dimension's older "Halloween" movies.

Hell yeah! An anamorphic transfer of H20 is definitely needed.

p.s. Can anyone confirm if Amazon.ca is stocking the proper version of Outlander now? I'd rather import that than buy the SD-DVD, but I'm not screwing with some bullshit mail in program to get a disc with the right aspect ratio.

Re: Canadian Blu-ray Releases - Complete List and Discussion

I'm in for the Halloween set just to get a decent looking edition of H20. Here's hoping Curse is that third disc and not the Zombie remake or sequel.

I'm tempted to also pull the trigger on Just Friends as it's a huge guilty pleasure of mine and New Line's Blu-ray catalog is non-existant at the moment.

Re: Canadian Blu-ray Releases - Complete List and Discussion

Bought "The Rocket" today. Easily one of the best sports (hockey) movies of all time. By Alliance.

Package Specs:
- "1080p 23.98 High Definition" (I've never seen 24fps explicitly typed on a case before)
- French 5.1 DTS-HD MA & DD5.1
- English & French subtitles.
- Special Features: SD & Dolby 2.0
- 2:04 running time
- Has a menu (though I should mention this since this is Alliance)

EDIT: Watched about half of it already. Picture looks good. Good is sound too. Old style B&W clips look grainy as they should.

Only major diff between the DVD and BR is that there's a 44 minute NFB documentary on the BR now.

Re: Canadian Blu-ray Releases - Complete List and Discussion

I'm done with the Alliance releases. Save for "The Others" and "Cold Mountain", all of the others I have purchased have had a sub par or worse picture quality. Not a sharp/clear image and way too much dirt, grain and sometimes a vertical line every now and then.

Not sure if there's been another thread discussing this, but did anyone else pick up Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on bluray from futureshop and not get a standard dvd included? Was this only available in the US maybe?

Yeah, kind of a piss off, espeically since futureshop.ca said it was a 3 disc package, and the digital download isn't even a physical disc. I guess I don't really care, it's only a standard dvd, haha.

Was this the case for their 'Ironpack' case? If so, thats just pathetic haha, especially since the standard case version was 19.99 on day one, with the Ironpack being 24.99. That case minus a disc isn't worth the extra $.

Yeah, it was the Ironpack case. I'm not sure if the regular one actually came with the standard dvd though.

Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day should be out tomorrow.

Here's a switch... Amazon.ca has the Blu-ray by itself listed for Dec. 29th. However, the DVD is listed for the 22nd, the Blu-ray pack containing BOTH movies is out tomorrow on their site... yet, they still have the Blu-ray stand-alone as a Dec 29th release. I called them today about this discrepancy (because heck, even the official Trailer Park Boys store shows it out tomorrow), and they said that they won't ship it until the 29th. GAH!

Very odd indeed. I saw the blu-ray in stock at Blockbuster & Best Buy on the 23rd...

I took a chance on a few and thought they all looked good. In all cases, I just didn't want to wait any longer and with several I didn't care about special features, so I knew I wouldn't likely have to ever buy them again.

The Constant Gardener, Cold Mountain, Good Will Hunting, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and The Butterfly Effect. I would have been all over The Others if it wasn't in 1080i. That movie would probably be in my top ten wants and, if not, definitely in my top 20.

Special features on a lot of catalog releases are meaning less and less to me. I don't really have the time to watch them like I used to. Give me great or very good pq and aq at a good price and I'm usually a happy camper. I will consider buying Good Will Hunting and Eternal Sunshine again, but only if their US, region A releases give me a good enough reason.

Merry Christmas!!!

Yep. If they happen for whatever reason not to ship on the 29th and say they don't have it in stock or anything, I'm going to pitch a fit. It's been advertised on commercials in Canada and it's been in stores.

Anyhoo, it's a funny flick and very well done... definitely a send-off that's meant for the fans.

Users on blu-ray.com were reporting that it was 6 / H20 / Resurrection.

If that's the case, I'm in... ONLY if H20 and Resurrection are in their OAR.

I think their still assuming. The disc has not been spotted yet.

And given the two movies you wanted were 2.35:1... you probably have a 50/50 shot.

Re: Canadian Blu-ray Releases - Complete List and Discussion

Looks like the "Pulse" disc coming out tomorrow is 1:78 instead of OAR of 2:35.1

Not boding well for "H20" and "Resurrection"...
